The couple who own and manage this home-stay do everything they can to ensure you are comfortable and happy.
I have stayed here on two occasions now and would happily do so again. The coffee, not surprisingly for a coffee plantation, is truly excellent!
The location is beautifully quiet and restful.

We spent our last couple of nights in India at Aranyakam. The treehut was amazing, making you feel like you're sleeping in the middle of a rainforest but with modern conveniences. The view from the porch is amazing and away from everything, in the middle of a 30 acre coffee and spice plantation. At night you truly see nothing but black. The bathroom has it's own waterheater.

The owners are incredibly nice and helpful. They arranged an excellent guide for a tour of the area and very reliable car service to and from the plantation.

The food was homecooked on site and delicious. It was a nice balance between restaurant and homestay table - if you wanted a more private meal you could easily have a table to yourself, or you could join with other guests to discuss each other's adventures.

I don't think I could speak enough of how nice this was to end our trip with. Wayanad generally, and Aranyakam specifically, was incredibly relaxing, yet with just enough to do to stay busy, too. It's worth the trip to get away from it all.

Room Tip: It's worth the extra money (not even that much more) to get a treehut, if possible. Though room...

We were only planning to stay one night here, but we were so enchanted by the beauty of the place that we returned for two more nights. The huts (we stayed one night in each) are perched on the edge of a steep hill within the coffee plantation, overlooking virgin rainforest and a mountain range. The main house has the romantic feel of a bygone era, and the traditional Keralan cooking was just what we were looking for. Rajesh and Neema were generous hosts; Rajesh even took the time to drive us round the plantation in his jeep (warning: this is not for the faint hearted, as he's an enthusiastic off-road rally driver).

This place was everything we were looking for from Wayanad - stunning scenery, traditional food and peace and quiet. However, we did notice that some of the domestic tourists (big family groups) had quite different expectations from the place (e.g. being able to use the kitchen, order Chinese food or cook your own, etc.) and were therefore disappointed, so if you want something like that, then I would not recommend if for you.

While working on a consultancy project in Kerala, I had the special experience of spending a weekend 'off' - enjoying the nurture and beauty of the rainforest and more particularly the nurture and enrichment of meeting Neema , Rajesh and family.

Travelling solo I was adjusting to the changed diet, work schedule etc and cannot overexpress the family warmth, care and kindness - it just parachuted me into a peaceful, memorable weekend. The family were just ultra-kind and we had some lovely fun and exchange too, wonderful conversations and am so grateful to my working colleagues for suggesting this venue. It felt like these people 'live' the true values of a homestay.

Great place to stay in a coffee plantation overlooking the rainforest. Amazing sounds and so very peaceful...
We stayed here 2 nights in September 12 as we wanted to visit the wildlife sanctuary nearby. This is an amazing place with great hosts and fabulous food. We chose one of the huts and were upgraded to the bigger one (so cool) as there was a plumbing issue with the smaller one that they were fixing. The hut was such fun - with little balconies on 2 levels - fabulous for bird watching and stargazing ... magical!
The food was great and the plantation is surrounded by spices, massive bamboos and microfauna and you can hear the monkeys shrieking and booming in the jungle below.
Price? It's pretty expensive given that it's a basic hut - but man.... can you put a price on that priviledge?

The only downside was the area and atrractions locally - for one of the most tourist parts of Kerala - there is surprisingly little to do - we walked to the local waterfalls on the advice of our hosts to find they were shut (?!) - the wildlife park also shuts on particular days ?! so find out before you go ....
And the actual wildlife park/caves etc was probably the worst day of the holiday. Being tossed arund in a jeep in convoy and forced to take pictures of a hobbled elephant is not my idea of a great wildlife park. This is certainly not the highlight of Keralan tourism...

We arrived from Ooty by local bus - this took some effort but was hilarious and cost pennies. It can be done!

We were 3 couples with kids (16mo, 2yo and 4mo). We typically prefer home-stays because you get a homely feel, and importantly having a kitchen around helps when traveling with kids.

I had a mixed experience at this place.

First the positives:
The place is really good: it's a 30 acre property, with lots of coffee and spice plantations, and on top of a hill. The tree house is awesome, sadly we were too late to book it.
Just a walk in the property gets you rejuvenated.
The rooms are big and are well equipped. Beds are comfortable.
Moreover, Rajesh was kind enough to take us on a cracking ride in his 4x4 through a narrow, bumpy, steep and very winding trail in the hills. This was arguably the highlight of the stay.

But you cannot really enjoy a holiday when you're constrained by a list of rules! You feel uncomfortable and are under pressure worrying whether you broke any !

Here is an incomprehensive list:
- Dinner needs to be had at 7 pm sharp, and at the dining area only.
- Bathroom linen may not be changed everyday
- You may not take food to your room or to the front porch of the rooms. The only thing you may take along is a cup of tea and some biscuits
- You must eat only what is available, and may not bring anything from other restaurants or sources
- If you do get food from outside (with a prior permission of course), you cannot have it in the rooms, or in the backyard, or in the front porch, or in the dining area! You need to finish it off in the parking area!
- You are expected to go to bed by 10pm
- If you need to use the kitchen to heat milk for your toddler/baby, you got to find a sweet spot when the kitchen is not in use. Dinner time is out of question. Can't use it few hours before dinner because that's when they are cooking dinner, nor for an hour after dinner cuz then they are cleaning up! So finding that sweet spot was very difficult.

Our experience in other home stays were very much in contrary, where the hosts were very accommodating. I mean, what does it take to heat a glass of milk? 2 mins on the gas stove? Unfortunately, they don't have a microwave.

The place is great, the 4x4 ride was awesome, but sadly I won't visit or recommend this place to anyone. What I mentioned above is arguably the most inoffensive way I could have explained our experience.

They have been running this since 2005, which makes me feel, they are not inexperienced folks and have knowingly behaved this way.

A lovely location, on a ridge overlooking the Wayanad hills. Friendly hosts, and excellent home style food. There are opportunities for pleasant walks on the plantation itself, as well as nice places to embark on gentle strolls through tea and coffee plantations or very ambitious hikes nearby. Fantastic diversity of birdlife in the plantation and super views.

Stayed in the treehouse-style accommodation with 2 children, which was an exciting highlight for them and us.

The property could perhaps do with better signage - it was particularly hard to find from the main road.

Room Tip: Both of the tree-houses have great views out over the valley, the larger one is a great adventure fo...
