“A green treat to eyes and soul!!!”
Reviewed March 8, 2013

Even though the last 2 kms to the resort was very rocky and narrow, it was worth the pain!! When you enter the resort you enter a completely different world. The cottages are very beautiful and surrounded by green from all sides. A small water body at the center makes the scenery complete. You will definitely wake up to the soothing sound of chirpy birds. Its an ideal place for a family tour. You can spend entire day inside the resort and wont feel like going anywhere. Even a group of young friends can have a gala time by doing a bonfire near the water body.
PS: While taking a stroll in the greens, make sure to carry some salt as leeches are quite prevalent.

Resort was very beautiful however, it was difficult to reach. The last 3 Km access from main road was scary. There is only a trail leading to resort.

Food was not good. resort was offering only buffet dinner. The food was expensive for taste and quantity.

With great expectations did we arrive when it was getting dark. Driving through a scary route up the hill, the property looked great. The ambiance was very good. That was the end of good things. The service was poor. The food was prepared by some 3 lads in a dark kitchen, thus didn't promote any appetite. The cost of each meal on the bill was hefty! A bier if ordered had to be brought from the town below; the transportation cost 3 times that of a bottle. The next day we called on the manager only to hear from him how he dared to lock a complaining customer inside the property! That says the rest ....

After much research we opted for Rain Country Resorts for our stay at Wayanad for 3 Days , 2 Nights. Although it was a mixed review online - almost all places we looked for had some negative feedback , so we decided to give it a try. We were 3 couples so we hired an Innova from Bangalore & drove down to Kerala on 27th Morning ... about 5.45 am. The journey from Blore to wayanad was quite pleasant - we even came across some wild elephants while crossing the stretch of road via the wayand forest & saw some pelicans swimmin in a lake near ranganthittu on the way back. The route we took was - Mysore – Gundulpet – Munthanga – Sulthan Battery ( Wayanad). From Slutan Batheri we started asking for directions, once in Kalpetta we followed the NH & after the CCD on your left , we found the deviation to the resort. We were prepared for really cold weather - end of Dec , ideally winter season, the weather there is not cold - cold. Its chilly in the mornings & evenings much like Blore & not really cold. Once on the deviation the road really narrowed & there was just enough space for one 4 wheel vehicle at a time - the road actually winds around a hilly terrain - really rocky so we had to go very slowly & for the remaining 2 days that we were there we could not use the Innova and had to hire a Jeep. Upon reaching there Mr.Arun Greeted us - painted this amazing picture about the resort, the natural pool & the property , which made us decide to explore the resort it self fr the rest of the day - the property was fairly nice , the pool disappointing . The food at dinner was as bad as the lunch n equally cold. The Manager Mr. Arun did not take too kindly at being told this. We spoke at length on the tourist attractions we could cover & hired a jeep on the understanding that we would go to 3 places - Kuruma islands [ this can be skipped - its really not so exciting ] the banasura dam & pukot lake. On the order suggested to us by the resort we went to Kurumba Islands first - due to which we could not go anywhere else. We requested the Jeep driver to take us back to the resort & get us down fr dinner - he plainly refused saying once he goes back he would not come again - the resort Manager said the same . So we ended up Paying Rs.1800 for a Single trip that was about 40 kmts away from the resort. The STD cottage rooms are avg & very basic- on our return they were not cleaned - we had to wait about half hr for some one to come clean it after we called. Next day we wanted to start early - but they server brfst only around 9 - which again is minimal, no bolied eggs , fresh fruits even the cereal was stale. We had a good holiday - because we were with friends & dint let the poor experience at the resort spoil our moods. But in all I would definetly not recommend this place to any one - the service here is pathetic & the management will act as if they are doing you a favor by letting you stay there. The Resort in itself is a good property but not at all managed well.

Room Tip: Beware - In wayanad - Most people used to tourists favoring this place try & fleece you. Best t...

After a long plan we decided to go to wayanad and selected rain country resort. After going there we felt like we are in the heaven. We loved the place so much as were in our home. The service is also very good and kind. For the New year Eve we enjoyed a lot in rain country they worked so hard to give us the happiness for the new year. All the persons who are working in rain country is so pleased and friendly to us. Next the place were rain country resort is situated is so good. All nature lovers will love the place a lot. The early morning mist wakes us up with a smile and the romantic evening and night will make us sleep in the laps of nature. The stream which runs aside near our room was loud and the sounds of water is like a music. Food is so good and tasty we enjoyed kerala special dishes. The antique model doors and the rooms will make us feel as we are in a king palace. The evening lights around the resort makes the resort sparkle in the night. We also got new friends in this trip. Thanks a lot rain country resort u gave us sweet and lovely moments to remember.

Few good things:
- Some people may actually really like it given it is perched on a hilltop, has lot of greenery & provides total calm n quiet..
- Morning walk in the resort was quite pleasant.
- U can park the car in front of your cottage
- My husband got an ayurveda massage done n he was pretty happy with it..

What didn't work for me.. lots of things!!
- First of all if you look up the address on google map.. it throws you 40 kms away from the actual place.. wasted almost 2 hours.. u should call them to confirm the exact location beforehand
- Approach road is 3 kms steep climb.. takes approx 20 mins.. cant go above 10kmph speed.. if u reach after sunset.. u might actually feel scared..
- Room very basic.. no TV, no intercom (manager gave us the mobile no. for restaurant & reception), only 1 blanket, not even a dustbin.. nobody bothered to come & clean the room next day
- Since the location is such u cant go out for dinner.. u will b forced to have it there.. they charged 400rs per person.. which i thought was very expensive.. given the buffet was very limited & not even very tasty,,
- they were not very forthcoming about any facilities offered though they had TT, badminton, trekking route n ayurveda facilities..
- Biggest problem: no cards accepted!!!

For me totally NOT WORTH IT...

The worst resort i have ever visited in my life... Have never thought how a repute site like trip adviser can give a ranking to this type of fraud resort. They do not have a MULTI CUSINE restaurant as mentioned in the website. Its just a buffet hall where they serve food which they want to prepare with no AL-A-CRATE MENU. The NATURAL POOL as described by them has snakes (of around 1mtr long) in it. The so called manager Mr Arun has also threaten us and called all the employes of the restaurant just because we took the picture and recording of the resort and on request for bill , they were not ready to give us the bill. Somehow we just got the bill for the rooms.
