While in Kutta, Karnataka, one can go into Wayanad Kerala and see this ancient temple. Read this link to understand the significance..
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thirunelli_Temple and also
http://thirunellitemple.com/index.php

Situated within a forest area the drive to and from this temple does give a chance to see some wildlife as well.

Really nice temple. Mythology says that Bramha built this temple for lord Vishnu. Very serene with the backdrop of Brahmagiri hills. The temple has an acqueduct by the side and has an old pond which is said to wash away your sins!

Route: From Mysore/ Bangalore you can reach from the Mysore Manandavadi Road. 10kms before Manandavadi, take a right and another 15 Kms you are at the temple. Very picturesque, you pass through the Nagarhole forest.

Or take the road from Kutta (Coorg)-Gonikoppa, it will join about 12 Kms before the temple, but the road is in a shoddy state.
