“Enchanting Resort”
Reviewed May 2, 2013

The Planet Green Resort surprised us. The resort is a simple yet charming place for a tranquil weekend getaway. The view is a breathtaking and the ambiance is of clean and unassuming nature. The staff is cordial and efficient.the room are clean and well maintained, though there is no intercom phone service, wifi . Children will love the presence of ever loitering turkey and ducks, swings and the serene stream. The food is homely and tasty. We were well attended to by Mr Radhakrishnan and other staff members. We appreciate their promptness.. we would love to visit again with friends some time in future...

We visited Plantet green plantation resort in the last week of April and were pleasantly surprised to see the place absolutely green and cool. Premium suite where we stayed was large, well appointed in Kerala theme and very clean. Large bathrooms, ample supply of water and electricity , extra room for luggage added to convenince. My husband and I travelled with two kids and my mom... the room is split into two levels connected with just 3 steps and comes with one double bed and two single beds which were sufficient.
Food was delicious and people very very helpful. They guided us on our way to the resort too and actually called us every half an hour to make sure we were on track. They provided printed maps and info when we set out for sight seeing. They truly made us feel at home. Thanks a ton Planet Green for making us and even my mom who is 70 years old, really comfortable. Great service!

Room Tip: Deluxe rooms are large enough for couples with one kid but premium suites are great for family of 4...

It is a good place but not a 3 or 5 star hotel. Dont expect luxury like hotel. Resort will be clean enough, good ambiance, good people with good service. Price is fair and overall, it is a good place for a weekend.

Room Tip: all rooms face same direction. you can choose any.

The resort people were supportive right from the time of enquiry/ booking. They had even arranged for a car from Calicut to the resort. We had a good time here, the rooms are very spacious, clean and tidy. The balcony view was too good. The attenders were hospitable and the food was good, they even helped us purchase items as we were leaving, going all the way to the town.
We had a walk along their coffee estates during the stay, the place was quite hot even in Feb, and not forgot to mention, the candle light dinner was a sweet surprise. Overall a pleasant stay.

Room Tip: when you book a bus please dont book a sleeper one, they shake you off in the curvy roads, the road...

We decided to stay at Planet Green based on the great reviews on Tripadvisor. It might be that our expectations were unreasonable based on the reviews but we left a little dissatisfied with the rooms and food.

The property location is beautiful. Like some of the other reviews have mentioned the access road is not great, but we saw road building activity going on so it seems they are making a better road. Right from the moment when you arrive at the property you find the staff is extremely helpful and friendly. The view from the reception area and the dining room below is great.

We had taken two rooms, they were both well equipped but we felt the lack of an Air Conditioner. The weather might have been unseasonably hot for April so it may not make sense for them to have Air Conditioners for the few hot days in the year, but the time we spent in the room was extremely uncomfortable due to the heat. Other infrastructure within the room wasn't in the best shape - things like inadequate lighting in the bathroom, lack of working Wifi. The latter wasn't really a big deal since the last thing one should be doing in the presence of such natural beauty is going online!

I won't comment too much on the food since it depends on whether you are fond of Kerala style cuisine. Within our party of 4 there were people that enjoyed the food, and those that felt it was terrible. What I can comment on is the quality of basic things like tea and coffee. Sorely disappointing, we had expected to get some nice coffee since we were in the middle of a Coffee Plantation, but what we got was difficult to distinguish from plain milk. The lunch was fairly elaborate but dinner fell short, specially for the vegetarians since we were told that no paneer was available that day.

Commenting on the activities. People visiting should be aware that there isn't a lot to see or do from an activities perspective. Great place for a honeymoon or general relaxation. One can walk around a little bit but there wasn't any tour of the plantation etc. that they've mentioned on their web site. We were travelling with two 3 year old kids and they enjoyed seeing the rabbits and birds, but there wasn't a lot of area for them to play since the resort is on a hill.

Lastly, as many have commented, the staff is very friendly. Our thanks to Mr. Radhakrishnan and the rest of the team.

we as a family of 4 with a 11 month baby had spent a week at planet green from 29th march to 4th april, 2013.
right from the online booking to the last send off, we were impressed at all times.

LOCATION: we reached there at night time. next morning i woke up and saw misty green coffee & tea gardens. As the mist faded off, the majestic chembra peak was in full view from our balcony. the resort is 3 to 4 km from kalpetta busstand. auto charge is approx Rs.100.

ROOMS: we stayed in a premium suite. i was doubtful whether a single rooom will accompany 4 of us along with the baby. it was more than enough. rooms were clean. Occasionally monkeys will come from the forest areas and tap the glass doors at balcony side. Sometimes they damage the water pipes. (But no worry, the staffs make alternate arrangements immediately.)

FACILITIES: all facilities put up in the website were there. they provided us with a induction stove. it helped us to prepare food for the baby. They even allowed us inside their kitchen to prepare food for the baby. 24 hrs hot water is available. A swimming pool is missing. ( we can take bath at a stream inside the resort but not in summer times). A new honeymoon cottage is being built in a separate area. Its nice. We have planted a small tree near this upcoming cottage.

STAFFS ( the best part): the service was more than excellent. Radhakrishnan sir was so kind. He along with abhi and Justin will try their best to serve you whatever you want in this jungle area. An evening trek inside the plantations with Justin was a memorable one. Asif and Raghu will take care of the plan for the day, taxi services. They will take care that we are not overcharged by taxiwalas. Our baby became very friendly with the female staff members who do laundry works for free.

FOOD: poori and puttu were the best. Dosa, kerala meals, fish fry, chicken items, rava uppma, fruit juices, coffee and tea were very fine. Idli and aapam needed little improvement.

CONCLUSION: one major drawback is the route to this resort. If one is coming by a own vehicle, kindly use the route thro KSRTC depot rather than the one shown in their website. This depot is located just before entering kalpetta when you come from vythiri.
Rest – the best.
