On january First week I had spent 2 Nights at Karapuzha Lake shore Resort with my intimate friends... this resort situated on the shores of Karapuzha Lake.... Really wonderful environment to stay as this resort surrounded by Plantations....
Or simply we can say a Plantation Resort. ......... We had traveled many times via Wayanad but this was our First Stay @ night..... A cool place....... Management of Karapuzha Lakeshore resort co-operated with us for all our requirements.... (But Restricted on some).....

Travel to the Destiny and feel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you're looking for a few days away from the hustle and bustle and lay in the lap of nature, there couldn't be a better place. Karapuzha is surrounded by lakes, wilderness and hills.

You could trek, lay a campfire by the lakes and watch the calm, peaceful waters. We went there for 3 days during new year's eve. It was simply what we needed, a true, resting holiday.

The food could be better however as we found it quite bland and made wit coconut oil (not something everyone relishes).

But the stay and hospitality were truly worth this review.

We recently had the opportunity to have a team outing during the Independence Day weekend. We finalized Wayanad as the destination and settled upon a relatively new resort ( Karapuzha Lakeshore Resort). Per our agreement, they had said that food had a specific cost per plate, and food was unlimited (concept – pay for a plate and eat as much as you can).
While the place itself is quite beautiful and well maintained, the same cannot be said of the service commitments and delivery. We reached on a Saturday afternoon, after a long and difficult drive through badly maintained roads. We had previously ordered lunch and lunch was ready. Here was the first experience we had the service – the resort hosts hold their food very close to their heart and absolutely refuse to part with it. We waited patiently for someone to come and give us some food. After about fifteen minutes of waiting, a worker came with a large pail of rice and a very small spoon. They serve rice in spoonfuls!! We were flabbergasted to see the sambar being served in small spoonfuls (three spoons per person), curry (two spoons per person). On begging for some more sambar, again the same issue , they absolutely refuse to part with their dear sambar, more than two spoons at a time.
While we put the above experience to being perhaps out of the ordinary, or the cook having a bad day, or the servers being surprised on seeing our large team, the dinner was again a repetition. The dinner was chicken curry and chapatti for the meat eaters and veg ‘gravy’ for the vegetarians. Suffice to say that the vegetarians had to cry themselves to sleep at night. The ‘gravy’ was nothing more than yellow dal. Chapattis were being doled out at two apiece and we had to literally fight for more chapattis.
This was the ‘unlimited meals’ we were being told about !!! Also, we were charged for ten extra chicken curries, since the host thought that we ate too much !! Come on!! Apparently, two chapattis and three spoons of chicken curry was considered unlimited food in this jungle. Add to this the shoddy service, we literally had to take the initiative to go beg things from the kitchen, come back and serve ourselves.
We spent two days in this resort and each day, the experience was literally the same. When it came to the day of paying the bills, we were not expecting any extra cost to the bill, we felt we were justified in thinking that a result of their shoddy service and bad food, the least they could do was not charge for unreasonable things. Wrong again!! The bill was overstated by at least ten thousand rupees. A careful perusal revealed about ten extra chicken curries (part of the ‘unlimited meals’ stated above, 500 rupees for a plate of fish fry (eight pieces), 40 rupees for a double omelet, and other sundry expenses.
Bargaining is something these people were very good at, and they proved it by refusing to cut down on anything. We came away with our wallets noticeably lighter and our stomachs lighter yet.
A resort is meant to be a getaway from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, where the atmosphere is pleasing and relaxing. The antics of this resort people literally turned a beautiful and peaceful place into a nightmarish experience for all of us, and we for one, have literally had our fill of Kerala itself because of this one experience. This post is written with an intention to warn all future travelers about the perils of this resort and a request to the promoters of this resort (Karapuzha Lakeshore Resort) to please rectify their mistakes and learn how to work in the hospitality industry.

Families... Please don't even think about this resort!!!!!!

Room Tip: Tip from ourside - Don't go to this resort at any cost!!!!!

I had been looking for a resort/homestay for the New Year eve. My search began pretty late and most of the resorts and homestays were already running full. The few i got were charging hefty without any reason. I came across this resort in yatra site. Was lucky enough to get a cottage here. We reached Wayanad on 31st night pretty late. I would suggest everyone who is heading for this resort to reach before sunset as you may get lost easily. This resort is located almost 20 kms from Sultan Bathery. The last 7-8 kms the road is pretty bad. Make sure you are travelling in a sturdy vehicle or atleast the car tyres are puncture resistant. The resort people guided us well to make sure we reach the resort and don't get lost.
The resort is located inside a coffee plantation, very much serene. This resort is a good choice for someone who is looking to relax. The lake is just 2 mins of walk from the resort. Manager of the resort, Jojo was courteous and very much helpful. We had booked a tribal cottage, but the cottage looked in a bad shape. He changed the cottage and shifted us in a pepper cottage sooner. The food was really tasty, unless you are not so fond of authentic Kerala food. Our stay was a good one in this resort. Thanks to Jojo and his entire staff for making our stay special.
However, one should avoid this resort if you worry too much about the road and you are a vegggie(i doubt availability of good veg food here).
You must carry a torch and mosquito repellant if you are planning to visit this resort. Overall it was a pleasant experience staying at this resort. A perfect weekend gateway for family and a group.

Was at this 'resort' with a group of friends. Totally ill maintained facility that does not live up to expectations from a 'resort'. Nothing to mention except for that this is a place to avoid for tourists particular about a 'great' experience (read 'good sleep'). The staff tried their best to help, but with their limited experience and extremely minimal resources, could not be of any help at all.

Its an amazing place to stay, extremely co-operative n friendly staff . We reached Wayanad at 2:00am and to our relief the hotel taxi was on time. The drive to the resort is beautiful, going through tea gardens. The food is amazing as its made of fresh vegetables grown at the resort itself. We went in the monsoon season, it was raining on and off which made the place even more beautiful. The lake is just 2 minutes walk from the resort and is nice. Its not very expensive and is a great place to stay.

Its a decent place. The only drawback is that its very interior from the city limits.. its pretty tough to visit other places once u get to this resort. The roads to this resort are in a pretty bad condition.. unless u r driving in a sturdy vehicle or unless ur vehicle has puncture resistant tyres i wouldn't recommend this place. Coming to the Hospitality of the staff, i'm very happy.. they are very courteous.. they treat u like their family.. The manager Dhanalal, the boys Jibin and Adith are very nice too.. The food served here is exceptionally good.. They also cater to your specs.. The Food is really really good.. no two words about it.. If u are looking for a vacation in wayanad, i would definitely recommed this resort.. but in case u r visiting this place please get in there before sunset or u will lose ur way n getting to this place in dark is a terrific exercise!! I did the mistake of driving back to resort at around 7.30 and trust me it was a terrific exercise to get back to this place.. we jus couldn find our way back.. guys be careful n make sure u drive back before sunset....

  • Liked — The courteous staff n exceptionally good food
  • Disliked — Its pretty far from the city and the roads to this resort are in a terrible condition
