“Food and "the lady"”
Reviewed May 29, 2013

My wife and I dined there last night and regret not getting her name. The food and wine were excellent and she made it a perfect experience. Thankfully her English helped us through the varied menu to exactly what we were looking for. Worth the steep climb to a beautiful village overlooking some great, future wine!!

“fantastico!”
Reviewed November 8, 2012

We mainly went to this area for the wine and food. We came here on our first night and were completely blown away. The food was outstanding- and the service was great. The lady, who I think ran the restaurant, was so passionate about each and every dish she explained to us and tried her best to not look shocked when we decided to try each antipasti, each have a primi, each have a secondo and then share a dessert :), If you visit this area, or anywhere within a decent drive, I would recommend it. You will not be disappointed!!

“homely atmosphere, great Italian cooking”
Reviewed November 4, 2012

a very nice wine list, the lady in charge was so very sweet and knowledgable (and spoke quite a bit of English) and most of all: the ravioli was to die for!

“Great food, wonderful place!”
Reviewed December 23, 2011

Fantastic, authentic Italian food! You only get a wine-menu with a really good range of local wines. Try the small and unknown vineyards. Then a wonderful lady tells you what the menu of today is - typically you start with antipasti, then you get delicious pasta, then the main-dish with meat and at last a wonderful "dolce" dessert. For each course you can chooase between 4 or 5 things. It is great! And the lady is so nice (and speaks also Englisch and German). During our 5-day-stay we've been her every evening (except on monday when they are closed). And we defenitely will come back!

“What a lovely unexpected surprise!”
Reviewed August 4, 2011

We were not at all prepared for our dinner at Trattoria in Piazza. Our hotel suggested we eat there, a good simple place nearby, as their own wonderful restaurant was closed that night. We were really not expecting anything special. My friend (who speaks French only) and I drove down to the village and there it was as described, a simple traditional little place in the main square. Quiet and sober within, the menu focusing on creatively prepared local dishes and wine from the region. "La padrona di casa" greeted us and began to recite the long list of evening's specials....when she realized that my Italian was not perfect and that I had to translate everything into French for my friend she exhibited the most respectful and kind patience, repeating and describing as needed . This lady just radiated grace and gentility, I have rarely experienced such a thing! She suggested some great reasonably priced local wine too.The food was amazing ..way above and beyond what we had expected. The highlight for me was dessert, a very unusual moist, rich, "Sacher Torte" made with quince jam!
