We went here this afternoon after the rugby to have a Sunday roast. Third time I've had one here. Friendly atmosphere, good food. Excellent value for money.

Previous reviews persuaded us to combine lunch at the Royal Oak with a visit to Woodchester Park, and it was one of the nicest roasts we've had. Really tasty, perfectly cooked pork and beef, carved at your table, is a thoughtful way to serve guests, and seemed to encourage chat among the diners that were there with us - so the atmosphere was friendly and relaxed. We had desserts that were freshly made and beautifully presented ... and our walk afterwards made them calorie-free as a bonus!

We were visiting Stratford-upon-Avon for the day & fancied a Sunday Roast. We were staying in Stroud so searched for places that offered sunday roast, & The Royal Oak showed up.We turned up & was not disappointed. We were warmly greeted & shown to our table. The Beef & Pork were carved @ the table by the chef which I thought was a lovely touch & all the trimmings were served. Thoroughly enjoyed it. The extensive range of the desserts including Old school puddings were to die for. Really lovely food, lovely experience well worth the visit. Will definately go back there again.

There was nothing anywhere online to say only open weekends, we made the 10 mile trip for lunch and it was closed, so was the Ram and there was nothing on their website either.

Service was very attentive, so thank you for that.
Lime and sodas were weak and I asked for more lime. Not hard to get right??
Nut roast was plentiful but rather stodgy. Half the volume but a better recipe please.
Roasted potatoes were not vegetarian so had some nice boiled potatoes with other vegetables similarly well prepared, accompanied by a good gravy. £13 for a main and more if you have meat.
