“Pleasant, though the hotel is large and confusing”
Reviewed May 15, 2013

We visited the four pillars on business and spent time on the grounds for a series of meetings. It is pleasant, off on a former water filled quarry with waterfowl. The facility is large and a bit confusing. We lost one of our colleagues for a while in one of the many corridors. The facility has good wifi coverage. The rooms were comfortable and functional. It is a bit away from most things, though that can be a bit of an advantage for an undisturbed strategy session.

Visited the four pillars last year on business and it was great. This year however was completely different. Rubbish room which wasn't clean or as equipped as my precious room. A real disappointment! Hope it's better next year.

We are sorry to learn that our guest did not enjoy their stay with us as much as during their last visit and perhaps experienced problems on this occasion. We have already shared the concerns highlighted here with our Head Housekeeper.

Ok,we were on a special rate but a 10 min walkaround a maze of corridors to find a room when loaded with bags, suit bags etc is too much. Twice we had to ask the way as direction signs were lacking. So be ware of rooms 500 and upwards
Once in room it was pretty standard stuff, but no sports channel on t.v. A big poster claimed wi fi was free (which it should be in all hotels) but the signal did not reach this room! A complaint at reception was treated with contempt by a totally uninterested girl.
The worst thing was the mould growth on the sealant around the bath,it is totally unacceptable and the house manager is not doing a good job.
Bar ok,event meal very average with tough pork. Breakfast as you expect ,all the normal stuff being kept warm but you can order freshly cooked items. Price was very good but i would pay more for better quality.

We are sorry for the issues our guest encountered and endeavour to double check any issues with our newly installed complimentary wi-fi now available throughout the hotel and all our guest rooms. We have also taken this opportunity to highlight any areas of concern mentioned here with our Head Housekeeper.

View from the room was very nice on the ground floor with a balcony overlooking the water. The furniture and bathroom however was a bit dated and the place was quite a maze. The food was great however, and free wifi throughout the hotel was a great plus.

I was in the UK for business but decided to travel a couple days prior to our business meetings to check out The Cotswolds. We came across this hotel online and we decided to give it a try. It turned out to be a great choice. Wonderful rooms overlooking the lake. The Spa and Gym was amazing. Great facilities. Bar was good. It must be a great place for special events. A beautiful reception lounge. It truly is a place to kick back and relax for a bit.

We stayed for a long weekend in one of the apartments in the block furthest from the main hotel. Rooms consisted of 2 double bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, lounge kitchen diner.
Rooms were all of a very generous size with high quality joinery and fittings. Bathrooms had a very powerful over the bath shower. Water pressure is very high so be careful at the bathroom sink or you will end up with a wet crotch. Lots of storage space, safe, trouser press iron etc.

Whole feel of the development is “corporate hotel” so is clean smart and minimal which does tend to be a little too bland.

Kitchen was very well equipped with, dishwasher with lots of wash tablets, Fridge, cooker, hob and a good range of cooking utensils, adjacent dining table and four chairs, vertical oak slatted room dividers to lounge which had two sofas and a low table.
All bedrooms and sitting rooms had wall mounted TV and built in desks, TV all had HDMI inputs but no adjacent power sockets for accessories such as DVD players in the sitting room. No DVD functionality to the TV’s. Brilliant Wi-Fi everywhere with a very simple click to connect interface and no need for complicated login or registration.
No air Con but lots of opening windows. Windows all aluminium we had booked a room with a balcony with a view of the adjacent lake which changed in character as the day wore on. See picture, brilliant.

We did a lot of cooking and wish we had taken –
• Oven gloves
• Washing up brush
• Surface cleaning cloths
• Surface cleaner
• Tea towels.
• Salad bowl.
• Kitchen roll

Additional cleaning and towels can be bought at a price but are not included in your stay.

There was one door to the apartment then two internal doors which all had those locks which work with cards, ours failed fairly regularly and would not open the internal doors in spite of assurances from the staff to the contrary, I guess that is why they provide the door wedges, so check before your daughter shuts her bedroom door….

Lots of walks starting at the hotel, Cotswold Outdoor shop on site, sale first May bank holiday each year. Café, bar, Spa, gym and pool which my wife and daughter would recommend.

Water sports in nearby lakes of a fairly tame nature, lots of kids to do including climbing some fairly terrifying structures good for a whole days entertainment. On site Café gets overwhelmed on a busy day so consider a picnic.

Can be hard to find a parking space on busy weekends but on the whole OK.

Staff very welcoming if a little reserved.

Room Tip: Worth paying for a lake view

We would like to thank our guest for taking the time to provide a review here on tripadvisor but would like to note that towels and linen are included in our self-catering apartments. We only make a charge for replacement of linen and charge on a self-catering basis which is not the case in our hotel rooms.

My wife and I stayed on night (May Day Bank Holiday) as a freebie with the home insurance renewal. Nice modern hotel with plenty of facilities for conferences and weddings. Spacious and comfortable rooms with good quality beds, hair dryer and tea/coffee facilities. Breakfast overpriced at £12.99 per person (it's a fraction of that 4 miles down the road at Tesco's!).
Pub next door was OK for a drink/quick meal overlooking the lake.
Good spot for a short-break if you are into watersports, but don't go for the nightlife. Cirencester on a Sunday night before the May Day Bank Holiday reminds me of Wales 40 years ago, not known for its nightlife!

Room Tip: Ask for a lake view room

We thank our guest for their positive contribution to this review site and appreciate their comments. We would like to note that whilst breakfast is charged at £12.95 to those guests staying on a ‘room only rate’, we do offer more affordable advance vouchers which can be purchased at the time of booking at £6 per adult and £3 per child.
