As soon as we walked into the place we felt like it was a home from home, everything that you could possibly need, and more, was there! There were seven of us in our party including a 2 year old and we found that there was more than enough room and didn't feel cramped at all.
We were met by Val who was great and showed us around the farmhouse explaining where everything was and how things worked.
The farmhouse has been renovated and decorated to a high standard and has still kept hold of its character.
If you're coming in numerous cars there is ample parking. Great little grassed area for kids to run around in.
The farmhouse is located on the edge of Percy which has got a number of Boulangeries and a charcuterie, which are only a couple of minutes drive or if you're feeling adventurous a 15 minute walk. A bit further out is a supermarket which caters for everything you may need, including 24hour petrol pumps, cheapest petrol we found.
It's an ideal base to explore this part of Normandy with the DDay beaches and museums a 40 minute drive away as well as Bayeux. Mont Saint Michel is much the same in the opposite direction with St.Malo a bit further along the coast. Even if you wanted to explore the top end either side of Cherbourg such as Barfleur it wouldn't take more than an hour to get there.
I would highly recommend this property for a holiday base, and have done! It's somewhere I'm hoping to go back to before too long.
We visit this lovely house every year and it is superbly equipt to cope with a large party of 12. The location is perfect with a small walk into the village of Percy. Whilst the house itself is set in a quiet rural location.
Would definitely recommend this house as a relaxing break and will be back next year for sure!!
There were 14 of us plus dog in our family group, ages ranged from 8 weeks to 70 years and the house suited us all with a large comfortable sitting room and great dining area that sat us all. The furnishings are comfortable, but not precious so we could relax with children about. Equipment is comprehensive with all you need, except one or two fans would have been welcome on one very hot night. Large outdoor area with two meadows and small garden. Fencing is two wires and no gate on the drive, so not fully secure for young children or dogs. Good outdoor furniture with cushions, but no loungers. A lot of trees so not easy to find sunny spots early morning and evenings but we did enjoy eating most of meals at the large outdoor tables.
Our favourite beach was Le Petit Kairon, near Granville, about 40 minutes drive. Good walks at Abbaye de Hambye. Good walking for the dog in the forest at St. Sever. Food at Cafe de Gare in Percy was great.
We were most impressed with the French health service when the baby had to spend two and a half days in hospital in St. Lo with a, thankfully mild, dose of Viral Meningitis.
Booking the house and ferry were made easy by the prompt and friendly advice from Jackie. We were met on arrival by the caretaker with everything clean and in good order. Three sets of keys, so sensible!
Definitely a house to be considered for large family holidays.

Having traveled a fair bit around, I'm glad we staid at La Maison du Chene. Rarely, you get to stay in a place that has so much character and history. The moment you walk in, you notice that the house has been tastefully decorated. While it is a holiday rental, you can't stop feeling like if you just walked in someone's home. The areas feel very spacious, there was plenty of space for all our friends to spread around the house.
La Maison du Chene is very well located, it's only a short drive a way from the village, where you can get your groceries and your fresh baguettes baked every morning. It is also a short drive away from all the historical places of the D-day landings.
Back to the house, the rooms are each individually decorated, which once again, reassures the homely, warm feeling. Being someone passionate about food, this is where we spent a lot of our time, like the rest of the areas of the house, it is very spacious, with everything we needed to cook during our stay.
Jackie and Tim, were very helpful from the moment we booked. Their attention to detail is remarkable. They suggested local places to eat, things to do, and other helpful tips to make our stay one of the best holiday experiences we've had in a very long time.

We have just returned from a long weekend at Maison du Chene. A roomy, well equipped property with everything you could possibly need. This was our 3rd long weekend in northern france as a family group (each time celebrating a 60th birthday), and we have previously stayed in houses / gites which were French owned as holiday lets. You can tell that this property is someone's "true" holiday home because of how it's been renovated and the quality of the fittings and furnishings. Whilst there were only 5 of us, we needed 4 bedrooms (preferably en-suite), and this was the only property we could find that could accommodate us.
We were met by Val the housekeeper, a welcome basket of goodies were provided and were told to help ourselves to whatever was in the cupboards (herbs / spices etc) this was great for us as we were planning on dining in for 2 of our 4 nights so no-one had to drive (ended up being 4 nights, as we ended up having leftovers one night, and the restaurants we wanted to try were closed Monday night)
All in all, couldn't recommend this rental enough.
