my fiancee and I stayed at this hotel on a recent visit to Lagos. For its location on the mainland, I felt from the outset that it was a bit pricey but was prepared to give benefit of the doubt. On arrival, the general appearance was fine and the reception staff were polite and helpful enough. However, our room, a standard double, was extremely poor. The walls clearly needed a lick of paint and the bathroom was terible. The water heater was leaking into the bath and onto the floor, causing some unsightly rust in the bath, and the mixer taps just didn't work - you either had ice cold or boiling hot water. The towel rack had also not been screwed in and constituted a health hazard. We asked somone to come to fix the leak, and someone did arrive promptly, but his efforts made no difference. They also failed to mop up the large amount of water on the floor.
We had intended to stay at this hotel for 7 nights but left after just one. While I accept that one cannot always expect European standard service and faclities in African hotels, at the equivalent of over £80 a night, this was very very poor value for money.
