“Fantastic place for the family”
Reviewed September 12, 2013

I took my wife and 4 year old son here for a week in August and we had a fantastic time. The location was excellent just a couple of KM from HyperMarkets and the beach and a great coastal town just 6km away with shops, restaurants and a lovely harbour. The site was great with two pools, one indoor with slides and one outdoor. My son loved the slides and they dropped into a nice and safe shallow pool. The only downside of the pool was that you have to wear budgie smugglers or lycra shorts so the sights were interesting ;-). Outside there were bouncy castles, a lovely little shop where I got fresh bread and croissants every morning. The fishing lake was brilliant full of Carp and Eels and Tench. You can get bait from the local supermarket but Cheese worked well also. The lake is next to the childrens playground so you can relax and fish while keeping an eye on the kids. I didn't use the bar or take-out but both seemed very popular. I would say there probably isn't enough seating outside the bar on a nice evening it fills up quickly. The closet beach was a short cycle ride away on back roads and tracks so safe for the kids. We had an awesome time and booked through KeyCamp but next time we will book direct because KeyCamp have a high markup and we didn't see any benefit from this.

We are really happy to see your family had very good holidays and enjoyed many activities and the campsite surroundings. Le Château de Lez-Eaux will be pleased to welcome you next year. Do not hesitate to book early and ask for a favorite location on the campsite. Our staff will be able to advice new restaurants in Granville and visits to do such as the Lucerne’s abbey. See you next year !

Really loved this place and a good mix of nationalities. We made a mistake of booking here first and then somewhere a bit closer to Calais as we are from England. I can't fault this place, its immaculate and the kids had fun in the pool and slides.

One caution - they didn't even let my 5 year old in him swimsuit, I didn't even realize it wasn't a proper one the French like to see. They wanted him in speedo so we bought one there for 10 or 12 euro. If you have boys or a man in your groups make sure they have these speedos.

There is a large supermarket a short drive away with most of the things that may be needed. I thought the supermarket while convenient (can't remember name but its green) was a bit more expensive compared to other french supermarket.

Another word of caution, some people say you can walk to the beach, I couldn't and can't imagine how those who did it. Its a good drive away, well about 10 minutes but that is driving. Perhaps there are other shorter routes but I couldn't imagine many people walking that distance.

Plenty to do in the local area and we also took including visiting the Mont-Saint-Michel.

Downside was very expensive internet. We didn't use it, just got free wifi when we were out and about when we needed internet. I really miss the place and writing this review had made me nostalgic again, I would recommend. The site is very clean but don't be tempted like we did that all Castels sites are like this. Went to another one which was a disaster but it was 4*. I shall keep to the 5* one even though you pay a premium.

Bonjour. We thank you for your recommendations. The french rule about swimming trunk can afraid but it's just just that any shorts (even swimming) is not allowed. Once you have you swimming trunk or speedo you can enjoy the swimming pools and the funny slides.
The supermarket 2 minutes from the campsite is Géant Casino it provides the necessary and if you look for a bigger supermarket you can find in Granville at 10 minutes drive.
The way to the beach last 1hour walking, it can be a nice walk if you leave behind the Château by countryside ways. We look forward to see you again.

We took our 5 kids on a 5 night keycamp holiday staying in a Grand 3 bed 2 bathroom.
We were greeted by a keycamp Scottish couple who were very welcoming and advised that boys/men needed tight swimwear and not baggy style as this was illegal in municipal pools! So a trip to the local sports shop was needed. Why couldn't this be highlighted earlier?
Accommodation wise, it was fine. Cutlery, glasses etc for 8 provided, clean rooms, basic BBQ plus tools.
There is a supermarket nearby which is very useful, they also have a small selection of British food if you're feeling homesick :-)
Good if basic camp, recommended for first timers or those after a quiet holiday.

Le château de Lez Eaux and Keycamp staffs work together in order to offer our guest a very good stay. The rule about the short may be annoying sometimes but once we have our trunks, it’s so nice to enjoy the swimming pools and slides with family. We thank you for taking time to write these useful comments about the campsite. Best regards

We have just returned from 8 nights at Les Eaux and I can say it is worth paying more for such a lovely site as this. We travelled with our own tent and children (12,11 &9) . the pitch was large and the facilities clean and hygienic. The site has a very relaxed atmosphere and we will definatley be coming back in the future. Granville is a lovely day out as is Jouliville, we were amazed by the size of the market at Jouliville.
We took our bikes and the site has some maps with suggested routes whick we followed and found usefull.
You have to enter a six digit code for the barrier and you get to choose the number which our kids loved and then spent the next eight days asking if they could be on the side to do the code ! Mont saint Michelle is spectacular but incredibally busy and if you are a bit claustrophobic best to give it a miss ! also as they have a captive audience it is excessively expensive to eat.

We are happy to see that the entire family enjoyed her holidays in Normandy. We want our guest feel on the campsite safe and comfortably settled that’s why our camping pitches are spacious and we care about peacefulness. Jullouville market is one of the biggest of the region during the summer, the main street is nice with some shops and the sandy beach is ideal for children to play and for parents to sunbath and rest. Do not hesitate to book early if you want to choose one of your favorite pitch next time you will come Château de Lez-Eaux. Regards

Just returned from a 10 night stay and cannot fault it. Kids club small, friendly and run by a lovely lady called susie who kept them entertained with arts and crafts and games, she was fabulous. Site was spotlessly clean and showers and toilets where cleaned regularly. Indoor pool was brilliant with lots of slides and a shallow area for babies and toddlers. Will definitely return!

My partner and I traveled from Glasgow to Cherbourg for a 12 night stay from the 2nd - 14th August in this beautiful campsite. We were given a very large pitch for our large tent with hedges for privacy. The toilet blocks were spotless and were cleaned several times a day. We bought meals from the takeaway nearly every night and the chef has to be complimented as the food was excellent. The indoor swimming pool was safe and has an area for toddlers as well as three slides. The town shops were only a 5 minute drive away and were well stocked. The site shop stocked all the essentials and the morning croissants were delicious and freshly baked. We enjoyed this site so much that we will be booking to return next year with our extended family.
Congratulations to Cecile and all her staff for making our holiday a memorable one. Looking forward to seeing you all next year.David and Stella

Brilliant site in the grounds of a chateau. Very spacious. The indoor pool complex with slides is excellent for families and often not that busy. There is also a smallish outdoor pool, a playground, fishing lake and a sports pitch too. The food served in the bar/takeaway is mainly snacks but was good on the one occasion we ate there. There is a lack of restaurants in the surrounding area which was the only negative we found.
