The Hotel Suhard is exceptional in every particular. Everything is decorated beautifully, and everywhere you look there is something interesting to see or to read. The hosts are incredibly friendly and accommodating, they arranged meals for us in the town, they told us all about the area, they introduced us to the other guests and made us feel incredibly welcome. The room was very comfortable and the shower in particular was amazing! The hotel has a beautiful garden and the breakfast was delicious. I would go back in a second!

A party of three, we had to seek overnight accommodation south of Rouen after a Seine Valley chambres d'hôtes booking had been cancelled by the hôtes. M. & Mme Lenoir responded positively. Their website had the look of quality (one develops a nose for these things online), & their terms were clear & precise. In an exchange of emails, they were scrupulous in their attention to detail & their willingness to help. They appraised the local restaurants for us & arranged an excellent take-out dinner from one of their recommendations. We accompanied it with a very decent Sancerre from their cellar, at a fair price.

The house is beautiful, and our rooms, attractively retrofitted to match the age of the building, are exactly as they appear on the website: spacious, tasteful & equipped with a traveller's necessities on the level of a four-star hotel: super-comfortable beds, soft towels in abundance, even scented bath salts. We had a modern tv & dvd player for entertainment if we wished, though we preferred a walk around the pleasant Norman village in one of the loveliest regions of Normandy of Belleme & an apéritif at the Café du Midi. The charm & courtesy of our hosts dissolved the potential ambiguities of the chambres d'hôtes social dynamic, leaving us quite relaxed. Breakfast was a feast, and deserves to be recognised with a photo.

To be practical & pedestrian, the price-quality ratio was impressive. Perhaps more importantly, this will remain one of the best of our many memories of travelling and staying in France.

We arrived at the property after a long 10 hour journey. The property and our room were lovely.
Josiane Lenior showed us our room, she then went back to preparing food for a party for friends that would be arriving later on that evening. We were not even offered a drink so went into the village to have a coffee. When we arrived back later on the house was full of their guest who we found out would be staying over night in the reminder of the guest rooms.
I ask if I could make a cup of tea for myself and my husband, I was showed where everything was to make the tea whilst Josiane and her husband entertained their guests.
The party went on into the early hours of the morning as we were wokern by the gurest coming to bed around 2am in the morning.
We got up for breakfast at 8am to find nobody downstaris, we then started to make ourselves a drink before Josiane and husband came downstaris. We were made to feel quite uncomfortable as if we had got them out of bed.
When it came to paying our bill we were shocked to see we had been charged for the cups of tea which we had made ourselves. Also they had charged us 10 euros for parking which we were not informed of beforehand. If we had we would have left our car on the street outside the property.
Even though the property is nice you do not feel as if you are a welcomed guest as we have previously felt when staying in other guest houses across France.

Thank you for the comments posted on Trip Advisor, they are the first received to be negative comments, then we should learn from these and see what went wrong.
The truth: we share the same feelings of unhappiness from the unsatisfied guests staying in our Guest House:
1)the evening of their visit we did not have friends at our place as they seem to say but a group of four couples of guests. This group had asked us to have their diner in our dining room, using our selection of menus from local caterers. Therefore we were probably wrong in accepting the additional booking for that night, and we apologise for making them feeling involuntary isolated from the other guests.
2)on the other hand we were very unhappy that:
a) they did not have the courtesy to call the restaurant's owner to cancel the booking they have asked us 5 days earlier to place with a local restaurant. This is very unpleasant for us to be in this situation and,
b) they had a snack in their room where it is clearly said that « no meal is allowed to be taken in the bedroom », the garden was available at time for this if they had wished and asked for.

We will take care of not being in the same situation when having a group of guests, thank you for letting us know and also we hope they will also learn from this experience of showing more courtesy to the local Guest house owner.
