“The Tree House”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 6, 2013

We stayed at La Cour de Remi on the last two days of our honeymoon in the tree house which is located in the garden. It was well furnished with great little touches like a mini bar and quirky light fittings. Very romantic but a bit noisy when it rained and the birds were walking around in the morning. We ate in the restaurant on the Saturday night and the food was marvellous, beautifully prepared, the lamb was fantastic, tender and full of flavour and I had the best rice pudding I have ever eaten with home made caramel sauce. My wife had the pork belly and cheeses which again was great. All for less than 100 euro. Sebastien the owner is a great host and chef as is his wife who served us in the restaurant. We will definately go back for our first anniversary.

We have just had a really good meal at this restaurant. The food was superb, the service attentive and friendly, and the setting is so beautiful in the grounds of the château basking in the evening sun!

We decided to come over to France and Belgium over May Day weekend to visit some WW1 graveyards again with some friends of ours.

We had been at Ypres the day before and then travelled down to stop with Sebastien for two nights. We went with room 7 for us and room 6 for our friends so we could make use of the space in the former if we wanted to.

We ate in the restaurant both nights and it was as wonderful as ever, Another masterclass in "simple" rustic fare raised to a new level.

Great service as ever and I hope it won't be too long before we return again.

Room Tip: Room 7 is enormous with a couple of sofas, large coffee table, big screen TV, nespresso machine and...

Easy to find and a warm welcome from the receptionist, our spirits were only dampened by a somewhat unruly party with very noisy children. They appeared to be enjoying a very long lunch and only left just in time for us to start dinner.

The sight of the chef collecting fresh vegetables from the garden for my starter brought tears of joy to my eyes. The whole meal was a veritable symphony of tastes, accompanied by a very reasonably priced wine. My wife made the 'mistake' of ordering the rice pudding; it really is enough for two people.

Our room was across from the restaurant and very very quiet.

Our second evening choice of food was less successful, we both opted for the sirloin. Cooked to our liking, but it lacked that level of taste we both thought a well hung steak should have. Good, but not as good as the fish and chicken we had had the first night.

We were less enthused by the breakfast than others. It does not help that I think brioche is only fit for using in a continental version of bread and butter pudding and then thrown away. The coffee just about saved the day.

We would happily return and probably will.

Our holiday's last night was at the Cour de Remi, last Monday 1 July 2013. It's not our first stay at Bermicourt and we fully enjoyed our return. Our room was huge overlooking both the Cour at the front and the Vegetables and Herbs, Horse and new goats at the back.
Sebastien sources food both locally and nationally and our Black Pudding starter and Chicken main course were as good if not better than anywhere else in France! La Bistronomie is alive and well even in North Western France! Just try the Ham, you have never tasted anything like it.
Such good food, service and value can still be found in France.
We will return!

Room Tip: Try one of the 2 new rooms with stone baths.

We had a good stay in a nice room with a good meal on our way back from France. The room was in an annexe and very modern and functional. The evening meal (on a saturday evening) was in a very buzzy dining room, countrystyle and excellent flavours and quality. At the next table teh men had second deserts as they were so good ! Having read the reviews of the breakfast I was a little disappointed but it was OK just not exceptional

Room Tip: Room 9 is spacious and very comfortable

Overnight stop after travelling for 11 hours ... What a sight for sore eyes! Sebastian was most welcoming despite our late arrival and we decided to have our evening meal immediately. What wonderful food! Can thoroughly recommend the home made rice pudding with toffee sauce! Room was delightful and very comfortable and we too can recommend the brioche for breakfast. If only we could have stayed for longer ... Definitely visit here again.
