Friends introduced us to this restaurant. Everytime I am in nearby Todi (two-four times a year) I make a particular effort to go here. I went again last night with friends, some of whom had never been there before and all of whom agreed that the food was excellent. Of particular note is their own porchetta and the antipasti. Other dishes are imaginative, but deceptively simple, showcasing exceptional local ingredients.

I thought I didn't like puddings. The puddings here make you weep. I am a convert!

The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful.

The restaurant is situated at a dream-location, overlooking the Umbrian hills. The food was every thing you could wish for. Excellent pasta and a fish antipasto consisting of thirteen different types of fish. We really had a blast also because of very friendly Italian waiter who patiently dealt with us and other non Italian speaking guests. An experience one should not miss when visiting the south of Umbria.

We were staying in Acquasparta and decided to experiment to see if we could walk to Il Re Beve. It was lovely walking up through Configni and the weather was glorious. Disaster then struck when we encountered about 15 bee hives on the side of the strada bianca. With no choice but to go past they attacked and, goodness, did we run! However we then went up to the restaurant and, for medicinal purposes only, drank lovely cold beer. We only had one course (hence only being able to give 4 blobs this time) but it was great. The staff are very friendly and found space for us on the terrace despite having no reservation. The views are amazing and I look forward to returning in September. We will drive!

This is a restaurant the we were introduced to by some friends in Todi several years back. We try eat there at least once every time we visit our house in Todi. In summer, one eats out on the terrace with spectacular views over the Umbrian countryside; In winter by a blazing log fire on the ground floor of the castle, with splendid brick vaulting overhead. The food has never disappointed. They make their own porchetta and use home-grown vegetables. The menu varies seasonally but the antipasto del Re is always available and certainly worth having. There is an excellent choice of fish or meat to suit all tastes and the desserts are to die for! Always a warm welcome from the staff, for whom nothing is too much trouble. If your idea of a meal is burger and fries, consumed in 15 minutes, this is not for you. If you appreciate good food cooked to perfection, it's well worth a special journey.

We discovered this restaurant a few years ago while renovating our property in the area. It was love at first sight! The food is excellent and the welcome we received was one of the warmest I have ever experienced. The 'Antipasto del re' is full of the best tastes of Umbria; the 'tagliolini cacio e pepe' are worth a come back; so is their 'Tagliata', not to mention the desserts. The menu changes quite often according to the seasons. In addition to the fantastic food Antonio and the whole staff are always ready to assist and suggest a good wine or the best food combination. Price is very convent considering the location and the quality of their food and wine. The place is very enjoyable in winter by the huge fire place or in summer under la pergola that oversees the immense fields. I would also like to underline the fact that our beagle was warmly welcomed with a bowl of water without even asking.... Such nice welcomings are not common in Italy.
