We stayed for one week in June 2012. It was a graduation present for our daughter. We stayed in Building 2, 8th floor and had an outstanding view and really nice room which included a washer and dryer. We used the gymnasium in the mornings, and participated in a number of activities including yoga, tai chi, paddle boarding, sea kayaks, zumba dance, and swimnastics.

We ate at each of the restaurants and the food and service was outstanding. The pools were very nice, and the poolside service was good also. The first few days, we were asked by the concierge to see the time share presentation but we politely declined. Everyone was very friendly, and we had only two minor issues.

First the concierge gave a schedule for the ferry (which loads right next door) to Isla Mujeres. We learned from another guest that it did not run at 915 am. We also observed the comings and goings of the ferry from the pool deck and the next available ferry was at 11 am. This did not create a problem for us, but it did not give as much time on the island as we would have liked.

Also, we took the shuttle to Mercado 28 (which was supposed to be a flea market). Instead the van driver dropped us off at a store. We soon learned that the actual flea market was 3 to 4 blocks further away. It was pretty misleading.

We had a wonderful vacation, and had outstanding service at each of the restaurants. As others have said, it is quite a ways out of town, but it really had all we wanted in terms of food and entertainment. A nice place to vacation with a family.

Room Tip: We chose building 2 since it was right in the middle and had an excellent view overlooking the groun...

Gorgeous resort! First and foremost, many of the members of their staff were outstanding. This starts with the manager of the facility, Oscar, to the bellmen under Angel's watchful eye, to the managers and wait staff in their on site restaurants. Our favorite was the Mexican Zama's. Service was first class, food presentation spectacular. The spa is one of the best we have ever visited and we have been all around the world. Try their mixed massage for 80 minutes; they apply several different techniques in one session...To Live For!!! It's location is away from the "strip" and makes for a much more enjoyable vacation.

Room Tip: Rooms higher up and closer to the sea are quieter and have the best view. Missed being able to hear...

To celebrate my 60th birthday, I stock piled my time share weeks, so had 4 rooms to share w/my family. There were 11 of us and everything went beautifully. Service is very slow at bar and in restaurants, otherwise, it was a beautiful vacation!!

Villa del Palmar is a beautiful resort! They did not skimp on any amenities in the rooms and the restaurants. The pools are gorgeous and were the perfect temperature for our trip in May. The beach is nice, they clean off the seaweed, and there are lots of beach chairs and beach beds. There is a breakfast buffet, but the dinners require reservations at one of their 4 restaurants. All of the them were tasty, but our favorite was Davinos (it has lots of seafood or pasta choices) and the Steakhouse. The steaks were perfect and , yummy yummy desserts. They ask you to sign your receipt for each meal, but it is not a hassle. Just tell your waiter to bring your bill with dessert (you aren't actaully paying if you have the all inclusive). It is a timeshare, so you may need to dodge the sales people, but they were never pushy with us. I highly recommend this resort especially if you want to be off the main strip. The water is clear, but it wasn't the crystal blue color as it is on the main strip. You can also take a shuttle boat over to Isla Murejese. It was very relaxing!
Oh, and I would definitely recommend the SPA for a couples massage. It was amazing!

Room Tip: All the rooms have an ocean view if you are above the 3rd floor.

First let me say that this is a beautiful resort. My comments here have nothing to do with the accommodations, the wait staff or the beautiful surroundings. When we arrived at the resort, we went up to the check-in counter and received our keys, etc. Then we decided to go over to the desk to the left of the check-in to get a map of the resort so we could get our bearings. We were greeted by Daniel and he was very pleasant and nice and had all the info we wanted about the resort in a large white envelope. Then, he began to try to line us up to take in a presentation of the premises for possible timeshare purchase. My husband immediately said to him, "you're not going to try to sell us anything right now are you?" He assured us he wasn't, but then started in on his spiel. We told him that we had been up since 4A.M. in order to get our flight out of Philadelphia and all we wanted right now was to go up to our room and relax. He acted as if he didn't hear this. Also, he was holding onto the envelope with the info we wanted and when I took it off the desk, his entire demeanor changed and he took it back with a look of anger in his eyes. We were not in the mood for this and we exchanged words and he finally gave us the envelope. This was a terrible way to enter this resort. And a terrible first impression of this resort. They must be more sensitive to the time share pressure when people are just arriving. It is the LAST thing they we want. Villa del Palmar please listen: We are tired, hungry, irritable, we've had a long plane ride. You have to be more sensitive to this and more in tune to the people you're talking to. If they tell you they don't want the timeshare speech, believe it and respect it. The rest of the vacation was fantastic, no thanks to Daniel.

Room Tip: need to be on the third floor or high for great views of the ocean and grounds

This was our second time in Cancun, and it was better than the last one. We stayed at Villa Del Palmar with an all-inclusive-plan and it did not disappoint! Food, accommodations, and service was excellent.

Extremely clean resort and first class food!

Room Tip: All rooms look towards the pool or the beach! Choose the all-inclusive-plan!

Villa del Palmar Cancun is probably the best looking resort I've seen. The building itself is beautiful, but the grounds are just fantastic! I especially liked the pool area and that there was never a shortage of lounge chairs. This was our first time in Cancun and we were surprised to learn that the white sand beach really does NOT get hot...pretty amazing.

The wait staff at all of the restaurants were very gracious and helpful. A few were a little limited with their English, but it was never a problem. The concierge and Desk staff were also a pleasure to work with.

We enjoyed the food at all of the restaurants, and especially liked the different Mexican dishes. The Yucatan regional cuisine was a change from the Mexican dishes that are more typical from the Southwest.

We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely return.
