The Beloved has got even better. This is our third year running and it was even better. Service has got quicker and is just as friendly. We were genuinely welcomed back by Edgar who showed us to our room and Pablo who works so hard running the front of house in the restaurants. Most of the staff are wonderful: Concepion, Monserrat, Noe, Paulo, Eduardo - all so helpful and nice.

Food is important to me and they had improved the food presentation and quality in the evening restaurants. The fish and meat was cooked just right. The choice was good. The head chef seemed to be monitoring all the food and service. We loved the addition of the Mexican food night in El Mar. That was a special night trying lots of different dishes, being entertained by a mariachi band and a full moon on the sea! Aldo was our charming waiter that night.

The Kids Club is fabulous - our 6-year old twins wanted to be there all the time as Africa and Wendy do a wonderful job of entertaining the children. We came back with several crafts projects they had completed during our stay.

Loved the addition of the coffee bar and tiny pastries in the lobby area. Waldo was very friendly.

We also tried the new juice bar, another great addition. They serve crepes there now which is a great idea but we did not try as we ate so well in the other restaurants.

We had our first massage there - it was a therapeutic one and very, very good. The spa is a beautiful space.

The grounds are really well-maintained and housekeeping is very good as ever.

Diego, the concierge, helped us plan our trip to La Isla - a fun day out with the kids and very easy to sort out.

The only room for improvement is room service - the pizzas on there are not as good as the ones served in El Mar and the choice is a bit limited. For example, the burgers are a genuine let-down compared to the red meat served in the restaurants.

I hope we can go back a fourth time!

Room Tip: We stayed in one of the casitas - Carinosa 1 - ground floor with pool. The kids loved having the poo...

The Beloved is about 35-40 minutes drive from Cancun Int'l airport. We used Olympus tours for a private transfer for about $80USD each way. We were greeted with white wine & chocolates, which was a great way to start the trip. The solitations in the Cancun airport have gotten way better and the baggage pickup and immigration was seamless.
FACILITY:
We arrived to a very clean lobby and were checked in quickly. Our photo was taken (didn't ask why, it wasn't on anything). Our room wasn't ready so we changed in the bathroom (very clean) and our bags were locked up safely and held until our room was ready. We stayed in Tierna 2 with a King bed and a fold out couch for the 5yr old. There were snacks in the room and full bottles of various liquors with a fridge full of various sodas, including chocolate milk for our 5yr old. Out our back patio was a heated private pool where we swam after going to the beach, small table & chair and an outdoor bed. The bathroom has a cascade shower, hand held shower and full body jets lining the marbled wall. VERY NICE with Bulgari bath products. We had a stepping stone path from our back patio to the walkway and were just steps away from the grill restaurant where they had a wonderful salad bar with oils & vinegars and many fresh vegetables as well as ordering off of the menu (lobster no good, seared tuna steak recommended) The Grill overlooked the large pool with swim up bar which is just steps from the beach. The Beloved serves TOP SHELF liquors and has pretty good red wine.
ACTIVITIES:
There are many activities, so look at your daily newsletter. I went to spa to book a massage and the insense was so overpowering that I had to leave. After receiving a coupon for 30% while sitting at the beach, I immediately walked a few steps away for a massage on the beach but there was lots of public chatter and smoking right outside of the massage palapa. I did go back to spa trying to find a time that the incense was not fresly lit and went to Aqua aerobics with George(hor hey) and man, did he teach a great class(9am every other day). Also, the aqua circuit was just phenomenal. It's a MUST. There was also yoga on the beach. The aqua circuit has a waterfall, hot & cold baths, lounge chairs over bubbling water. (no kids) It is a very tranquil, completely shaded outdoor area to relax on a bed & read too. There are heated stone lounge chairs where they give you chlorophyll water and a neck rub before your treatment. As long as I stayed in outdoor area and when I was taken upstairs to massage room areas, I did not smell the incense.
KIDS CLUB:
Daily, we took our 5yr old to the kids club which has lots of activities indoors and outside. They have a water/splash play area with a dumping bucket. My son had a great time and we enjoyed a few hours alone. They open at 8am I think and close 1pm-2pm for lunch then are open for a few more hours. We could not go off-site to the golf course and hired a private sitter which the concierge set up.
WIFI & STAFF:
The manager, Gabriel, greeted us on the first evening and welcomed all comments. So NICE!!) we had a difficult time with WiFi in the room. we had to go out on patio out back. Wifi was spotty everywhere and was best to go to library in front lobby. They agreed to work on that.
All staff were excellent and the answer was ALWAYS yes or let me see if I can get that for you.
BEACH:
Playa Mujeres is not the greatest beach location and as you walk toward the marina there is a distinct sewage smell toward LaAmada. You do NOT smell that as you go to The Beloved. It was fun to walk up to the lighthouse area where many lizards are sunning on the rocks.

Room Tip: Tierna 2 was great corner room on lower floor, very quiet and we also looked at a room with a roofto...

Just back from a family trip. 19 of us with 12 adults and 7 kids from age2 to 10. For comparison, have been to Iberostar Lindo, palladium Riviera, Palladium Royal Suites, El Dorado Maroma.

Rooms - huge, very clean with at least two cleans a day. Spacious Balcony is large with a full Bali bed and table with two chairs. Nicest and cleanest we have ever been to......
Best showers EVER. Hot water never ran out, rain shower head and 4 other jets

Pool and Beach - 3 pools. Two smaller and one main. Spent more time in the main which had the swim up bar. Great temperature. Bali beds with Palapas but no lounge chairs so limited seating. Beach is very nice. Combo of Bali beds and lounger chairs - all cushioned. Lots of shade and towels. Read about the seaweed and it was there - just for a foot or so at the waters edge so not an issue for me. Nice views of Isla Mujeres. No one selling anything on the beach.

Food - I found it rather limited but good. Two fancier restaurants with a fair bit of seafood and usually a chicken /steak option. The restaurant by the main pool had the most selection for supper so I wish we had tried it earlier in the week. Breakfast was good - buffet and a la carte. Room service was excellent - good menu, on time and we always got exactly what we ordered. My recommendation would be an all day buffet. Lunch was the same menu every day at the same restaurant. If you are used to large North American portions - be prepared for smaller, but tasty.

Kids Club - excellent. Staff was attentive and played with kids, didn't just watch them. The kids loved the staff(Africa and Wendy) and enjoyed going. Wasn't sure how I would feel about leaving my kids there in terms of safety but it was great.

Service - very good across the board. Staff was accommodating. We were a large group and when asked by one of the managers, let them know we felt our dinner waits could be too long. They were very apologetic, and went out of their way to ensure the remaining dinners went well.

Entertainment - it is a smaller, quiet resort. But each evening had a vocalist or band - all were really good. Best entrainment we've seen!

Overall - Beautiful and the cleanest I have been to by far. A few minor glitches but the way they were handled by the staff was excellent. Although a small resort, not claustrophobic and felt very safe - even allowing the kids to move around by themselves.

The Beloved Hotel's website does not match reality. We paid for an oceanfront suite but you needed a magnifying glass to see the ocean. The room itself was okay, clean and well serviced. The restaurants were par at best, especially the service. If you are looking for a small resort with not a lot of ammentities and you do not expect 3 star or above service then this may be the place for you. I was not impressed and felt we paid far too much for what we received.

We just returned from a week’s stay at The Beloved. Our trip was planned essentially at the last minute and naturally there is as sense of apprehension with staying at a new place having had good experiences at other properties. We are frequent travelers and consider ourselves to be very picky about our choices. As you will read below, we were extremely pleased with this decision and are already looking at our next visit and I highly recommend this resort to anyone.

The following areas are what we look to validate when we are considering a selection of a property to stay at and hopefully this will help anyone with their decision to consider The Beloved. From the minute you arrive at the main building, you can tell that this is a nice resort.

Family or Couples – The Beloved is a small boutique style resort which is very good for both types of stay.

Families are absolutely present at The Beloved. The resort has multiple accommodation levels for both couples and families. The Kids Club was staffed by two fantastic ladies who truly welcomed our 5 and 4 year olds, provided them with plenty of engagements to keep them interested. There is an inside area, multiple outdoor areas, and a great kids pool for younger kids to play in.

Couples were very plentiful as well. There are multiple areas where couples can go and enjoy their time. The resort offers live music, but is it not your typical adult’s only resort where the masses are being entertained. Entertainment is available until midnight so to sum up this, if you are looking for a party or very lively atmosphere over more relaxation themed, adults only resorts might be the better option. The Excellence resort which is owned by the same company is literally right next door and appeared to be a nice place for adults only when we walked through it. If you are a couple that is looking for ultimate relaxation without all of the crowds, this is a great spot where you get attended to and you are known after a day or two.

Accommodations are extremely good. We initially stayed in a two story casita and then moved to a penthouse room when it became available. Both room types were extremely nice with great furniture, bathroom accommodations, and views. The casitas, end units in the three main buildings, penthouse, and owner suites all have nice plunge pools which are great for relaxing in. The housekeeping staff did a fantastic job of cleaning and turndown services.

Cleanliness of the resort was impeccable. During the day, there are always cleaning and upkeep projects which are taking place. The great thing is that the cleaning projects do not hinder the guest’s ability to have a very positive stay. In the dark of the evening, the cleaning staff for the resort is very activity in cleaning kids club, pools, etc without interfering with the guest. The bathrooms are constantly being monitored and cleaned and at the pools, they are checked very frequently which is always a welcome sight.

The staff was second to none in my view. Being a small resort, you see the same team members almost daily. They are very attentive to your needs, always extend a hello and are there to help you if needed. From the first minute you arrive until the last minute you are there, you are well taken care of. There was not one group that caused any disappointment. Naturally, in a small resort, sometimes things take a bit longer, but if you are in a rush, all you have to do is mention it to the people taking care of you and they will do their best.

The dining options were good for a resort of this size. There are four primary dining areas with a sushi bar being offered in the evenings. All of the food was good quality and there are some that are naturally better than others. They gave a good flavor for the Mexican cuisine in addition to the staples. The Executive Chef introduced himself and made sure to let us know if there was anything specific or special, they would attempt to accommodate which was very good. The staff that works the breakfast moves to the lunch area by the main pool so this is one of the reasons why the staff gets to know you. The liquor selection was very good overall with the caveat that the pool areas only start serving at 10AM so if you want a Mimosa or Bloody Mary early on, you can get this at the breakfast restaurant Aroma. They have a decent wine list for the evening should you wish to purchase a nicer bottle of wine. The various primary wine regions were covered. The “all inclusive” wine was not necessarily a favorite so we took advantage of the wine list and they have a couple of very affordable red wines available on the list. My one suggestion for red wine if ordered from the wine list, attempt to order in advance so that they can allow the bottle to warm to closer to room temperature if this is how you like your red. I was pleased that they do keep all of their wines on the list in a climate controlled location which is very important for good wine.

The spa was very nice and they offer daily specials. My wife really enjoyed the spa treatment. The starter at the various pools, saunas which they include as part of the treatment was different than most spas in that they actually have a 50 minute station session where you get your body ready for the actual spa treatment. The fitness area was stocked nicely with the various cardio, machine, and free weight equipment for all levels.

There are three pools on the property. They are not enormous pools and the actual decking around the pools limits the number of guests that can be accommodated which would be the one drawback to the pool area. You need to claim your spot very early around the pool by the beach as there are only around ten very nice two person loungers by the pool. They have similar sized options at the two pools that are in the middle of the resort. There are plenty of loungers in the beach area, but you should find your favorite spot and get it claimed with a book or magazine. One recommendation for the resort would be to place a sign at the pool to prohibit reserving chairs at the pool and also on the beach. Large groups obviously have their right to do this, but it truly puts the smaller groups at a disadvantage to enjoy the seating at the pool if desired. Drinks flow well at the beach pool and there is a person who takes orders at the other two pools.

There is a golf course that is in community where The Beloved and Excellence are located. It is called Playa Mujeres Golf Club. The course was in incredible shape. This course is not played like most resort courses and the owner wants to ensure that golf course is in excellent shape for all players. The rack rate was $145 plus $35 for rental clubs. In comparison to some resort courses, it was in line from a cost standpoint. I would recommend that if you like golf, you be sure to play the course as you will not be disappointed.

While being an all inclusive resort, I would submit to everyone as a guest that consideration of the exceptional service be given in the form of tipping. They welcome US dollars or Pesos and not much is desired, but the team absolutely deserves this little additional reward. One recommendation is to be sure to bring sunscreen with you. It is very pricy in the gift shop especially for kid’s level lotion.

All in all a very positive experience and kudos to the resort staff and management!

Room Tip: Casita's, end units, penthouse, and owners suite rooms all have plunge pools. Great views from...

We have just returned from a week at the Beloved Hotel and it was wonderful. The corner terrace suite we had was absolutely beautiful and the service was outstanding. In particular, Luis at the beach, Erfan at Isla Grill, Yessimi the food and beverage manager and the wonderful hostesses Audrey and Noami stood out and are a huge part of the reason we had such an amazing time. The grounds are beautiful and the spa is world class. Dining was hit and miss for us-- sometimes an incredible meal, sometimes not so much-- but for an all-inclusive resort it was, by far, the best food I have experienced. I just wish that there was more selection on the menus for dinner and for room service and perhaps a "club" level where you could pay a premium but get higher quality wines included. The amazing accommodation, facilities and service are the reason we will be back with our children this winter. The Beloved Hotel is a very special place for couples and/or families. I would highly recommend it.

Room Tip: The corner terrace suites are amazing.
