“Nothing Less Than 5 Star!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 2, 2012 via mobile

This hotel is by far the best we have stayed in on our travels. We have stayed next door at Excellence but this is slightly ahead on amenities and quality. The food was top notch and the service was off the scale! They knew our names after the second day and I would put a special shout out to Edwardo, Joel, Noe, and Abel. They really did look after us, even if you wanted something not on the menu it was never an issue. The grounds are immaculate and the sand is hand raked every morning.
This is the height of luxury and not to be missed. I can see why our friends from the US go there for 4-5 nights.

This is the quietest hotel you could ever stay at, don't be put off by any comment about noise as the site is silent from 2300 hrs, and almost quiet the rest of the day.
Truly an amazing location where you are treated like royalty and feel the same.

For our honeymoon, we wanted to stay at a tranquil resort that had a good beach, decent food and excellent service. After scrutinizing all the 5-star Tripadvisor reviews, we were so confident that this would be such an amazing resort that we seriously considered canceling our second week at another resort so that we could stay 2 weeks at Beloved. While this is a great resort in many ways, there were some unfortunate flaws that prevented this from being an extraordinary resort for our honeymoon and we were relieved that we kept our second reservation. Frankly, we consider ourselves fairly reasonable travelers and don’t expect perfection during our vacations, but it was hard not to notice those issues that we hadn’t seen at lower rated, less expensive hotels.

At other resorts, we’ve been greeted at the door with cold towels and cold drinks while someone whisks our luggage away. Instead, at Beloved, we carried our bags into the lobby while many staff members looked at us with confusion (there were no other guests in the lobby) -- not a huge deal, but unexpected and not a great first impression. Eventually someone came over and invited us to check-in. Two weeks prior I had emailed the concierge to remind them about our honeymoon and to request early check-in and a king bed and was encouraged when I received a prompt response that they would do everything possible to accommodate these requests and reminded us to bring our wedding certificate for the “honeymoon package.” This made me feel pretty good at the time but the front desk staff clearly had no knowledge of this email or that it was our honeymoon (even though this was also included as a note in the original reservation). The person explained that our room would be ready in about an hour, which was fine since we wanted to get food anyway. He offered to take us to the restaurant, which we thought was nice of him until he abandoned us in the middle of the resort. Strangely, he led us a few steps away from the lobby, pointed in a general direction and said that we could see the restaurant from there which is not quite feasible (as anyone familiar with the layout knows, there is no way to see Isla Grill from just outside the lobby). Tired, hungry and hot in our travel clothes we wondered around like Hansel and Gretel. Eventually, we found another staff member who kindly escorted us to the restaurant. Things got much better at the restaurant – we were warmly greeted by Conchita (Conception) and had our first decent meal since before the wedding, enjoyed the amazing view of the ocean while being pampered by the staff. A little over an hour later, we went back to the lobby to see if our room was ready. It wasn’t but they said it would be ready soon…. we waited for another hour or so in the lobby. Early check-in is not guaranteed and we understand this but it would have been helpful if they were clearer about when the room will be ready, instead I felt like they led us on. If it won’t be ready until 3pm, that’s fine, just let us know so that we can go take a nap on the beach. We understand that we had made a special request, but were really disappointed to see that no one had any knowledge of our request after their response.

Finally, we got to go to our room and were feeling better until we saw that they had put us in a room with 2 double beds (I guess they thought we either needed to be very cozy and/or have some space on our honeymoon). It was our honeymoon – we weren’t looking for an upgrade or any other special perks but, when they put us in this room, it really made us feel like they had zero interest in getting this honeymoon vacation started-off well. After questioning this, the manager called and curtly told me that they were at 95% occupancy but they had one more king bedroom available in our room class that we could have (I didn’t ask why we didn’t get this room initially). We were taken upstairs with our bags. I guess we didn’t tip the bellhop enough because as he left, he slammed the door. Hard.

Not a great start to our vacation but it got better. As expected, the resort was very peaceful and relaxing. As other reviewers have noted, this is definitely not the place to party and we appreciated that. We only saw a few, well-behaved children, though probably because we went in October. The post-check-in service, for the most part, was excellent. In particular, we would like to thank Conception, Susana, Daniel (beach), Alex (beach), Ivan (room service), Jorge, Frida and the sushi chef (sorry, we didn’t catch his name) for their truly exceptional service. Compared with other resorts, we felt that the service was significantly faster, especially on the beach. The food ranged from good to excellent, although the variety was somewhat lacking. It’s hard to complain about this, however, when we enjoyed the best pizza margarita we’ve ever had while sitting on the beach; or when we got to have amazing sushi with a hookah during our “second dinner.” The room was large and immaculately cleaned every day. Our room, however, was directly across from the elevator and every morning we were awoken by other guests or the staff (who seemed to have their team meetings outside our door). I would recommend requesting a room away from the elevators but, given our experience, it may be for naught as we were left with little confidence that the concierge or front desk staff could accommodate something like this. Like many other resorts, there are open-concept bathrooms. For honeymooners, the wall of glass that looks into the shower is ok but I think this could be awkward for families. Supposedly there was free wifi but it worked so inconsistently that it was a challenge to use Skype or Netflix.

As beach people, we’re conflicted about how we feel about Beloved’s beach. The beach area itself is smaller than expected and the chairs are close together. On our first beach day, we went out around 11am and could only find one palapa in the back available. However, the resort offers private cabanas for $45/day, which are covered beach beds a few feet from the water. In addition to the rental, you get a bottle of bubby, bug spray, after sun lotion and Evian spray. We thought this was an amazing deal and booked it for our remaining days at the resort. The first few days on the beach were perfect but then a storm hit, which caused a lot of seaweed. While we understand that the resort cannot control the seaweed, especially in the water, it seems like most other resorts make some effort to clean the seaweed on the beach rather quickly. We’ve never been bothered by seaweed on the beach, but for 2 days, there was a 1-3 foot barrier of seaweed (and other trash that washed ashore) between the sand and the water that was ugly and attracted flies. We were at the beach early and late both days and saw very little effort to get it cleaned-up, and instead it got worse. Perhaps there was a reason why it was not being cleaned on those days but, again, the delayed action is something that we hadn’t experienced at any other resort.

I had really hoped and expected to give this resort 5 stars like the other reviewers but it just didn’t hit the mark for us. That being said, I think this resort is perfect for certain types of travelers and I can understand why some would rate it 5 stars. In looking at the reviews, it seems that many were written by individuals traveling with children and it is hard to imagine that there is a more tranquil all-inclusive family-friendly resort than this. Second, many of the reviewers upgraded to the casitas, which we didn’t (we chose to stay longer, to tip the staff well and then take another trip in July). It’s possible that guests who stay at the casitas received special perks or service. While we received excellent service for the most part at The Beloved, we typically receive this level of service at other resorts so we cannot say that was a differentiator for us. We did not get the “honeymoon package” that was advertised online (special room, fresh flowers, etc); instead, one night they gave us a plate of the same pastries you find in the lobby and drew a bubble bath for us. Not something that really matters to us, but it reinforced the impression that helping us celebrate our honeymoon was not a priority for them. Therefore, I would be hesitant to recommend this resort for travelers celebrating a special occasion, especially those who do not plan to upgrade to a casita suite.

Room Tip: Try requesting rooms away from the elevators.

We had a very relaxing vacation at this hotel in August 2012 complete with good food (lots of vegetarian options), top-shelf liquor, five-star service, clean and spacious rooms. The martinis at the bar in the reception area are mind-blowing. Also, the Lupita Lounge has some different and delicious menu options. The hotel is located away from the main Cancun hotel zone which provides a quiet and peaceful atmosphere (if you are not looking for the party places). This is a family friendly hotel, so if you are not ok being around families with small kids, look elsewhere.

The only negative I can think of is the beach - it is an artificial beach - which is good if you just want to soak in the sun and relax.

The property was very nice and the room was perhaps one of the nicest we've stayed in. We had a Junior Suite with an ocean view on the second floor of the mail building. It was closer to the restaurants and lounge (hence a little noisier) and a little further walk to the main pool/ocean (but that really wasn't an issue). The bed was really hard but the room had nice amenities. We were able to get a really good rate for our flights and 5 night stay. The only issue was in getting a king bed at check-in because you can only give them a preference when you make the reservation. We had to be "pleasantly persistent" with that one. They offered to give us a room with two double beds and move us to a king the next day, but that was a hassle we weren't interested in. The food was just okay to be honest and the staff was pretty good on the whole. Drinks were made with better brands and were pretty good. The hotel is next to a marina so taking an excursion or getting over to Isla Mujeres is very easy. We didn't have time to go to the spa but those in our group who did said it was very nice. There is only one small shop on premises (which is fairly pricey) so bring what you need or save the shopping for a trip off premises. We had a really fun time but we were with a really fun group. We'd likely go back.

I loved my stay at one of the swim up suites at the hotel. I was looking for a relaxing, no worries vacation and I got it. I liked it a lot better than the last all inclusive I stayed at for a couple of reasons.

1. Food: Breakfast, lunch and dinner were all very good. Food was cooked to order and no reservations were required at the restaurants.

2. Hotel Style: The hotel seems to be focused on providing a relaxing vacation instead of forcing activities on everyone all day.

3. Drinks: The hotel had better quality alcohol for all of its guests than what was available at the last all-inclusive I stayed at.

4. Service: The staff was very good at making sure I was spoiled rotten. They were very good at making sure I had drinks on the beach. More impressively, they asked if we had any non-standard requests and made all of the reasonable ones happen.

5. Rooms: The rooms all seemed very nice to me. I don't normally book suites, so I can't compare it to previous hotels, but I really liked the setup here.

Cons: No real cons for me.

I would NOT come to this hotel if you were looking for hotel run activities or shows.
They have some nice music at the restaurants at night, but that's about it.

It's also a fair distance from the main hotel zone, if that matters to you

Our stay at The Beloved hotel can't be described in words. You absolutely must experience to believe it. So much of this hotel was perfect that I will list my high points and suggestion for improvements. Although there is room for improvement rest assured we will be back. We are already planning our next trip and hope to bring family and friends to experience this amazing paradise with us.

Raves
1.) If you want impeccable service this is the place for you.Tipping the staff is not required but they treat you like royalty and are most appreciative for everything thing that you do.
2.) The room was decorated nicely and the grounds were beautiful.
3.) Drinks are made to suit if you like them strong just let them know.

Improvements
1.) The food was ok better than Apple Bee's but not gourmet.
2.) I would love to see the beach be cleaned daily.
3.) It would be wonderful if the Hotel had a shuttle. My cab fair was $85 dollars one way. I learned after talking to my bartender Guillermo that fair price was more around thirty dollars.
