“Best fish curry in town...”

The hotel is simply best for the fish curry and fish fry in Malvan. They know their strengths and stick to them.

Of course, being so popular, waiting time is a bit more, but wait is worth its while.

“Average”

Had heard a lot from friends, relatives and of course tripadvisor too, hence the first halt at Malvan before proceeding to Tarkarli was to Atithi Bambu.

Location: Its on the way towards Chivla Beach. It can be easily missed as it is not situated on the road itself, but have to take a dirty approach road to reach the 'Khanawal'. The locale definitely is not scenic

Ambience: I was warned about it and my worst fears cam alive. One has to stand in the open and grab the first available table that vacates. The tables are literally plastic tables with plastic chairs cramped in. Since it was afternoon hours, the daylight was sufficient but I doubt the situation in the evening/night hours. The air was stale and filled with all sorts of flavours from the adjoining kitchen. Add to that a dog strolling in the aisle, a cat sitting on the parapet next to our table and a cow standing at the entrance of the dining area were the other negatives. All in all not at all recommended for those who are used to fine dining.

Food: This was the only saving grace. The food was typical and truly authentic Malvani style. The serving too was ample and the taste left its mark on your palate. Add to that the reasonable cost (Rs. 750/- approx. for 4 ppl.) and the entire meal was great. There was an array of fish items on the menu. The Surmai (Kingfish), Paplet (Pomfret), Tisrya (clams), chicken (gavthi) were all up to the mark

Service: Pathetic. With just 3 waiters (shabby) attending almost 15+ tables you can expect chaos. However, the time taken between collecting the order and serving it was quite fast. The problem was to get the attention of the waiter to collect your order.

In conclusion, after 3 days of stay in Malvan (Tarkarli), I deduce that there are other decent places that offer some hygienic surrounding for your meal and no matter which restaurant you eat at offer your good Malvani style fish.

“Athithi Bamboo, the best Malvani delicacies in Malvan?”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 19, 2013

Had visited this ordinary looking restaurant in Malvan on Saturday(11-5-2013) with "TrekMates India" tour group for lunch. Was surprised at their non-veg and vegetarian menu delicacies. As a hard-core non-vegetarian fish eater i tried their "Pomfret Fry Thali" and was mesmerized on seeing the thali, a large pomfret fry with an assortment of other dishes in a single thali. The Pomfret was one of the best fish recipe's i ever ate and later left the restaurant absolutely bulging with the "Pomfret Fry thali ". Excellent restaurant with moderately priced food recipe's that are not available in normal restaurants.

“Sea food paradise”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 6, 2013

Its a must visit place whenever you are in Malvan. Variety of dishes on the menu in the form of a huge board above makes you feel more n more hungry. This place is mostly crowded & many of them are with families. The meals served were super delicious giving you instant feeling to visit again & again. They took a pretty long time to serve after the order taken, but the food taste compromises & trust me you'll forget that long wait. All the items on the menu are reasonably priced & very much VFM. I just cant wait to go back again & relish their seafood.
