“Great place to visit”

We have taken a few of our visitors here as we live locally and everyone has enjoyed it.
The kitchen is very well preserved, a real insight into the past.
Well worth a visit.

“Lovely building”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 28, 2012

A lovely place to get local history for a local town; well worth a trip. Great for kids also, plenty to look at. Its taken of really well to which is nice but as most of it is still the original building, some of the ceilings and walls are slanted and bowed but it all adds character the building itself. It needs to be kept as it is to keep the character and the history. Going again next year and i only live around the corner :)

“Authentic medieval building”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 22, 2012

This turned out to be a far larger historical building than I expected.Easy to park about two streets away in a cul-de-sac.Excellent welcome from the reception desk.£6 basic entry includes a very good interactive audio televisual guide, concessions £4 and reductions for children.A great hall leads to servery, kitchens with manual medieval food guides and replicas of typical animal, fruit and bread and the tv guide gives history and typical visual scenes. Then through the pantry and upstairs to the stewards and clerk`s rooms before the solar room.Through the doors to the ghost corridor and bedroom following the staircase to the tower roof. When back down go through to the state rooms and tudor dining rooms finishing with a tudor dining room.Methodists will like the links to John Wesley.About one and half hours needed ,if using the full library of interactive links.A good cafe downstairs and be sure to have a look at the herb garden to the side.A highly educational facility given it`s links to Richard 111 and Henry 8th.Some shoolchildren at reception said they had visited with their school and had now brought their parents back to have a look.

“Well worth a visit!!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 13, 2012

Gainsborough Old Hall is a fab place to visit. It is really interesting and most especially for me - child friendly. Entrance fee includes cost of a little bit of technology which gives you a guided tour around the Hall. We opted for the family version which involved a ghost narrating the tour. It was great!! Loved the building, the stories and the little surprises revealed along the way. Gift shop and staff are good too.
