Not only is this a great place to shop for provisions and gifts but the soup and cake - home made - are delicious! If you've not been you've missed a treat.

We were visiting Elgol and stopped by for a bowl of soup and cuppa having been out on the Misty Isles boat tour. home-made soup, great baking and lots of touristy bits & bobs. Well worth stopping off to enjoy the Elgol hospitality.

This was our second visit to this gem of a coffee shop. Hermione's welcome was as always, very warm. The shop has a fantastic range of everything - whether day-to-day needs or for something locally made and a little bit special. The exclusive range of hand painted buoys are quite beautiful, as is her home-made cakes, bakes and soup - WOW!
Make the visit - this is a great wee place!

Visited Hermione's shop and cafe today and was bought an 'Elgolian' fresh roll with locally caught squat lobsters. Delicious! Staff always very welcoming. Tables inside and out and all essentials stocked in the shop. Just as well as its 15 miles to the next shop!

We cycled to Elgol on a day trip from Broadford. refreshment stops are far and few between (see The Bllue Shed reviews) and we found this one by accident. rather than cycling back along the main road, we took a small lane that passes the community centre on top of the hill. As well as a shop selling souveneirs etc. they also did a great line in snacks and cakes. Try one of the local shrimp butties - superb, with soup and followed by a large portion of home made cake with a mug of tea/coffee. Add to that the warm hospitality of the ladies serving and you have the perfect resting place. If coming by bus, the bus terminates right opposite the entrance; if driving, turn left at the loo's and you'll find the entrance at the end of the building. I don't know about opening times, or length of season, but it's worth a visit.
