Took the lovely single track out to Elgol to go on this lovely trip.
You start off by buying your tickets off the very friendly and helpful lady from the misty isles kiosk.
We were told by the informative crew that porpoises had been spotted that day but sadly not on our trip. You do though get quite close to the seals and also a good view of the "bad step" if you are thinking of walking back.
The loch itself is a short walk from where you are dropped off and the best views are gained if you walk in a anti-clockwise direction. The scenery and mountains are stunning.
You also get a drink and a biscuit on the return journey.

Where to start with Misty Isles Boat Trips...

We've sailed with these people twice, once in April on their boat trip to Loch Coruisk and yesterday also to Loch Coruisk but this time to tie the knot while we were over there.

After deciding that Loch Coruisk was the location for our wedding in April, we had regular email contact with Ann to discuss organising our big day. She was incredibly accommodating in the weeks leading up to the event, but that was nothing in comparison to the effort her (and the rest of Misty Isles crew) went to once we arrived in Skye. Typically we chose the one day of rain and wind Elgol had seen in weeks, completely hindering our chances on getting over to Loch Coruisk on our wedding day. When Ann realised the weather on the day we'd picked was supposed to be dire, she contacted us suggesting numerous alternatives and even helped trying to arrange everyone to go over last minute on the night before as the weather was serene at that point. Unfortunately the legality of wedding meant the day could not be changed, but again Ann spent the morning of our wedding (unbeknownst to us) emailing back and forth looking for a break in the weather so that we could get over to Loch Coruisk and sure enough in the 11th hour it arrived. When it did the crew leapt into action to allow us to have our dream moment and we could not be more grateful, the sun was even starting to come out by the time we got on the boat.

These guys effort went way above and beyond anything we ever expected and we cannot thank them enough. They will forever remain in our hearts and we will be sure we will return many times in years to come.

If you do one thing in Skye, this is it. Loch Coruisk is absolutely breathtaking and Misty Isles are the only people to take you over there.

Took a wee afternoon tour of Loch Coruisk.
It was absolutely stunning and the weather was perfect for it.
The crew's help and commentary added to the experience (as did the tasty hot chocolate at the end!).

Does what is says on the tin - very good trip into the Cuillin - very welcoming and entertaining crew who were great! We even took the dog! Saw porpoises and lots of seals with newborn pups. About 90 minutes on shore which was plenty time to explore the loch and enjoy the great atmosphere. Back on board to a welcome hot drink and shortbread! Stopped off at the Blue Shed cafe on way back to Broadford. Just be warred - do not underestimate the amount of time taken to get to Elgol - it's not a fast road. Well worth the trip though!

We took a quick trip from Elgol to Loch Coruisk and the Black Cuillins. As we were a party of 4 adults, 1 young child and an baby we opted for the shortest trip, giving us about an hour ashore.
The skipper was an excellent host for our trip and views both crossing the water and when we arrived at the loch were breathtaking.
We also got to stop by some small islands where seals were basking. We had great views of them and saw quite a few including some young seal pups.
My only regret was not booking a two hour stop by the Loch as we had just enough time to walk around the shoreline and along the river to the edge of the loch for a view of the mountains before we had to head back. But we'll rectify that on our next visit!
Tips: Take food and drink for a picnic. Don't bother with a buggy for a child as the terrain is not especially even on the walk to the Loch. Use a sling instead if your child is young enough. Wear sturdy shoes or walking boots. Take binoculars.
