“"Fantastic views and a warm welcome"”

May 2013: What a lovely place to stay. Fantastic views from the bedroom window and a genuine warm welcome from Christine and Jim. Jim's suggested walk to Tommy's Seat was a lovely after dinner stroll with 360 degree views of Skye and the Highlands. Great food too. We would recommend this to anybody. Thank you folks!

Room Tip: Rooms upstairs have unbeatable views.

We had a great time in this B&B. Very quiet and beautiful place. Jim and Christine were very polite and helpful. We were treated like friends. They spend time with us chatting and having fun. We absolutely can recommend this place to everyone.

To stay in this BnB is like visiting a family member! Jim and Christine are so polite and funny, we had a great time with them. If you want you can have dinner there aswell, which is cooked personally by the hosts. It was delicious! The rooms are very nice and the breakfast is excelltent (especially the porrige, Jim ;)) ! There is pretty much everything you can wish for. The Accomodation is surrounded by a beautiful landscape! Best place to stay!

My wife and I spent a night at Rowan cottage in early June 2013. We did not have much time to get to know the place nor the owners (Jim and Christine ?) but loved the place and had some interesting conversation over breakfast.
We felt very welcome. The room was very clean and confortable, with a view on the loch. Breakfast was very good too. I understand dinner can be served at the cottage. Based on the menu I saw, it looks quite tasty - albeit not particularly cheap (not much cheaper than a mid-range restaurant, say). A good option though, given that there seems to be only one restaurant around (at the Coruisk House, in Elgol).
Nice walks to Dun Ringill and the Kilmarie graveyard can be done straight from the B&B, and the Elgol peninsula has some great walking to offer. We did a rather long walking tour of the peninsula during our stay, starting at Kilmarie, that I thoroughly recommend, for the sheer diversity of landscape that this 11-12 miles walk offers, including the beautiful Camasunary bay, the cliffs between Camasunary and Elgol (not recommended for young children), Elgol itself, and the hazel forests just north of the B&B. Some magnificient views on the Cuillin and the Blà Bheinn. Highly recommended !

Spent two nights at Rowan Cottage and must say its an absolutely fantastic B+B. Christine and Jim were really friendly and superb hosts, really chatty and full of local knowledge and stories. The food was second to none, especially the breakfasts with Jims famous porridge, followed by a full Scottish fry up! Very clean and comfortable bedroom, had a great nights sleep. Stunning views from the breakfast room window and a whole host of birds at the feeder. Can't recommend Rowan Cottage enough! Just wish I lived there!!

Just spent two nights here and can fully recommend the view, the twin room with a view, the dining room with a view and delicious food (super choice with Scottish flavour at breakfast and dinner). We really enjoyed an enchanting walk to Kilmarie and Dun Ringhill, suggested by Jim and Christine. Spring wild flowers, bluebells, orchids, primroses and many more, birdsong including the cuckoo and skylarks a plenty. The boat trip from Elgol to see seals and The Cuillins up close is not to be missed. Entertainment provided by Christine, Jim fully kilted and the greenfinches on the bird table!

We stayed with our two children and was made to feel very welcome. All three were very welcoming and I was even treated to a spot night fishing.

The only thing that was a negative was the cost of the children's meals which was £8.00 each, if we would have know the cost I certainly wouldn't have ordered them. It was a while since we stayed with them so they may have addressed this by now.

They are certainly friendly and did make us laugh when they were all cooking dinner in the kitchen and fell out about it!
