We were pleasantly suprised with our 3 night family stay at Rayaburi Resort. Maybe because we stayed in one of the three ajoining beachfront rooms (number 2 - very nice for four of us with our feet in the sand). We wouldn't have been so happy if we stayed in the pool villas - green swimming pool water, lots of mosquitoes and away from the beach.
The service was fine and particularly good in the restaurant where the chef made special Thai-Italian 'fusion' food for us (he had worked in Italy for over 20 years apparently - very kind and pleasant man).
The beach is small and the kids loved it making sand castles etc. Very calm when the day trippers leave so we had the place to ourselves - we liked it.
Beware: every morning the beach is littered with broken bottles and glass which is brought in with the high tide form offshore. Before we let the kids run on the beach we (and other guests) did a sweep to pick-up as much of the broken glass as possible (we didn't want a hospital trip to Phuket as part of our holiday). Every day we presented the bags of broken glass to the reception who thanked us but didn't seem too concerned.
All-in-all, we had a pleasant stay but don't take a pool side villa and take protective shoes for the beach.More
