My girlfriend and I stayed at this resort a month ago and our experience was excellent. Granted the property was not complete, however the staff more than made up for it with service and attention. I have stayed at several true 5 star resorts (not self proclaimed) and our experience was right up there. Again please keep in mind the resort was NOT finished which we knew beforehand. That being said we stayed in a beach front villa which was beautiful as expected. There are 3 things which stuck out to me

1.) The first night Umberto the chef (and one of our favorite people we met in Thailand) took away our menus and told us he would cook anything we could think of...this was awesome. It was at this point he learned that my girl friend was allergic to gluten. We never asked for special food as the allergy is mild. However without asking the staff heard this once and immediately made arrangements for her. They made a special breakfast every morning, special rolls, and even provided special snacks. This was ABOVE and BEYOND...at one point the chef had googled gluten free ingredients at home just to be sure. We enjoyed his breakfast so much we changed our flight to later in the day so we could enjoy it one last time. Umberto and staff thank you again.

2.) Spooks the in house mixologist and his team were entertaining, interesting to talk to, and openly welcomed the opportunity to make a drink based on characteristics. We are from NYC and he even gave us a list of specialty bars to try in NYC which we did and they were fantastic.

3.) As we were walking on the beach we noticed 4 piles of painted coconuts...clearly this was a game. I asked the front desk what the game was and shortly thereafter they had several staff members on the beach showing us how to play and played with us. It is a 4 person game so we needed two more players.

If you are looking for private paradise and great service this is a great resort. It is a little far from the main cities and attractions (probably 35min plus to Patong) but for us it was nice to be away from the craziness for a few days.

Room Tip: We stayed in a beachfront villa which was looked just like the pictures in the resorts marketing mat...

We stayed 8 nights in jan 2014 shortly after this new stupendous resort opened. It was a FABULOUS, WONDERFUL and so good we are going back! We have stayed at many resorts in wonderful places with wonderful people. What made this so good? We felt like family! Nothing was a problem. The food just the best ever - the Amazing head chef Umberto cooked us whatever we wanted and made up menus and THE most outstanding food! The Thai chef did likewise and oh my we love Thai food and it was faultless! Carla was the assistant manager and delightful our concierge Boom was super friendly and genuinely helpful- even though we arrived much later than expected.... The water sports activity lady was super helpful. Spook is in charge of the bar- mixologist- and a fab friendly guy. Fab drinks and creative! Nothing is too much trouble. The villa was just superb, gorgeous gardens. Nothing to fault.... Except we never wanted to leave. Great finish and fittings and a bathroom that is everything a lady desires! Perfectly clean. Huge staff looking after every aspect of the resort! Truly a magical resort and deserves to be a huge success- great combination of wonderful environment, facilities, food and truly friendly staff. Loads of chats around the main pool. Our villa pool was lovely and big and warm water. The dining was outstanding- we loved the breakfast all a carte menu with a really interesting mix of Asian and western- we know- we ate it all!!! This is a lovely new fresh resort. We would feel perfectly comfortable if we went as a single, couple or family- definitely enough style for everyone. We had a fabulous photo of all our favourite friends at the resort waving us goodbye when we sadly had to leave! Carla showed us around the whole resort and all room types are excellent and will not disappoint. So choose according to whether you like a hill side sea view or a beach level view- and wide range of budget options. Truly special. Loved the flowers on our bed to welcome us when we arrived- aMaldives touch we were told by Carla. A wonderful escape from reality! We are going back! Andrea and Ian

Room Tip: Depends on your budget. I can honestly say all room types really superb. Amazing fittings and finish...

Checked in to the hotel and discover that most of the resort is still under construction. Lots of facilities are not available e.g. fully equipped gym and more casual restaurants. We were upgraded to the next level up?— Beach front villa not available or a gesture of good will. Rooms and staff are wonderful. Few quests so more attentions were given. Chef walks around at breakfast and dinner time asking for any special requests is a nice touch. We booked and pay for accommodation 3 months ago. We should have been warned and given the option to cancel and refund. That is our only criticism. The hotel is also miles from anywhere-so be prepared for a relaxing holiday. Mini bars are not complimentary either. The finished part of the property and gardens are immaculate. It will be a great resort in 6 months time.

I was lucky enough to be one of the first 10 guests to stay at this newly opened resort and was completely wowed from the moment I walked in.

What set this new resort apart from any other resort opening up in Thailand was their staff. They were so friendly and so attentive and happy to help in every single way. Whether it was carrying the bags to my room, or bringing cold water and fresh fruit to me at the pool, there was always someone on hand to offer the best service and with a smile.

The grounds are gorgeous. Set on a stunning beach which is great for swimming and water activities. You can swim or stroll to other hotels and restaurant nearby. I tried stand up paddle boarding for the first time, and I actually wasn't too bad at it.

The room was wonderfully designed and the little extras like a nespresso coffee machines, and bicycles were really appreciated.

Breakfast was delicious, at this point they only had their a la carte menu, and had said they would open to a full breakfast buffet soon. The chef had obviously put a lot of focus in the design of the menu and also the presentation of the food. It was all well received by us!

Overall I had a brilliant stay and would highly recommend this hotel. I hope to visit again soon.

I just stayed four nights at this wonderful new Anantara resort, although it´s not quite finished yet, will be in march I think, I had a fantastic stay and highly recommend it.
Beautiful and very comfortable villas, a wonderful white sand and quiet beach, and a fantastic pool area with great service, complementary water, cold towels, fruit and fruit juices.
And the restaurant Sala Layan with exelent food, Thai or international and outstanding service
that really cares about you. A special mention to the breakfast buffet, absolutely the best I ever had, with everything you could ask for, and more
The only negative about my stay is that it was far to short, so I simply have to come back again.
I also would like to express my gratitude to ALL the staff for making this short holiday so memorable.

just spent 3 nights here and OMG!!. Rooms are fantastic, resort surroundings are relaxing, clean. Best about this property is their staff. From GM Boyd Barker to the bellhop, front desk staff, F&B staff, housekeeping and even their chefs/cooks, they are amazing and are the true spirit of the resort. Staff remember your name, your food likes/dislikes, that your coffee must be hot! The managers are engaging and speak to all their guests. Even the Chef comes out often to interact with their guests including us of course. Amazing service from all staff ....... as they say, if the fish rots from the head down, well here, the fish is fresh from the head down to the very last fin of the fish. Mei who checked us in was wonderful, graceful, informative and even gave a welcome foot bath. Truly Thai hospitality. Well done.

Room Tip: you can choose a villa facing the sea/beach front.
