“The Real Truth About This Resort”
Reviewed May 16, 2011

What the Tour Operator and Hotel DO NOT tell you about this Resort. This Resort is just feet off the Road although you are in the Hillside you can here this Road ALL of the time 24/7. The pool is near the Restaurant and just feet away from the busiest Road in Phuket, you cannot talk to one another for the noise from the Road, they play music from the restaurant but you cannot hear it.

As for the Beach it smells of sewerage, its dirty there are jet ski's racing around all day, There are Time Share Towts there pestering you all the time. And the food down there is quite expensive.

The Resort has sun loungers down on the Beach but they are in need of replacing they are very old.

All in all this is NEVER A 5* RESORT

The extra large sea view court yard room was great. The news fantastic. The service was rather cold and the staff would no go the extra mile for you. We had some bad experience in the restaurant ordering drinks (mainly language issues). The noise from the road can be annoying. We recommend Twin Palms resort over Ayara. The service is more consistent, and better value for money overall.

We stayed there in February 2011 for one night with my wife and two kids 5 and 7. We booked through Agoda. When we arrived at the hotel, they told us that we had to upgrade our room as we had two kids for close to 50% of the price. We explained that usually we can sleep with our two kids in a normal king size, but fair enough if it is the hotel policy, we will abide by it... So after quite a while, we are brought to the room which happened to be not ready. The whole family starting to get cranky so we are brought to a normal room to wait until they have finish to clean the super room. The normal room is already huge. Probably 70 sqm, with a super king size bed of 2.4m width... We told them that this room was good enough for us and we are not going to wait another hour or so before unpacking and start our short holidays. We had to speak to three different people and get quite a high level of frustration to finally get somebody telling us that we could stay in that room but will still have to pay the price of the "super" room. I happily agree to that to move on but just keep a terrible feeling about the whole story and of course will never go back nor advise anybody to go there!

Had a lovely 10 day stay here doing pretty much nothing at all! Hotel staff couldn't do more to please you. Room was very spacious, clean and airy. Slept like a log every night.

Whilst some have said the road is noisy, it wasn't something we noticed at all. Possibly on the odd occasion a truck was struggling to get up the hill and was noisy in low gear. Apart from that no trouble at all, even when sitting outside (were in room 805).

Breakfast was plentiful and appealed to both continental and asian tastes. The main restaurant had a wonderful seafood buffet on a Monday night - hubbie said had some of the best tuna sashimi he's ever had. Lobster, prawns, squid etc all on the bbq too, and as much as you can eat. Good value for what you got too, although much more expensive than a bowl of noodles on the beach.

Beach was nice, clean, and easy to get to either walking or by the buggy.

Wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

Room Tip: The seafood buffet on Monday night was fabulous

We only stayed two nights and it was just too short. We were upgraded from a courtyard view to a seaview and were so very thankful.

I loved our patio, especially at sunset. We used the whirpool to cool off after soaking in the sun at the beach.

The beach was warm, the water was warm, the lounge chairs provided by whoever it was down there were fantastic.

We missed the opportunity to eat dinner at the restaurants on the beach due to the pouring rain. The restaurant at the hotel was very quiet and the food was decent. Breakfast was filling and the staff were nice. There was barely anyone at the hotel!

Our room was very comfortable, and large. The outdoor shower was a fun experience. We slept like logs and never noticed the road noise. Wish we had stayed longer!

My husband and I have stayed here twice in the last year for extended periods and there are so many great things to say about the staff, the service, the suites. I can hardly wait to return next year! This is a real gem.

We spent three night at the Ayara hotel for hotel following 8 days in Phuket. We were picked up by a driver from the hotel (which was a bit confusing since we were frist greeted by someone else and were told to wait for a while prior to being picked up by someone else). Reception all smooth and we had a good room/villa somezhere on the 8 level with good views to the sea. Especially the bed was very good. Only negative point: you can see the rooms have a high turn-over since they look already a bit dated and used, but nonetheless, everything is very well maintained. Breakfast was great as well, and we nearly always had the pool for ourselves. We did not find the road next to the hotel to be noisy or cumbersome. Service at the pool great as well. Once advice: do not go the hotel spa and massage: expensive and we had the lousiest Thai massage we ever had in the many years we have been to Thailand. We had dinner once in the restaurant, good but nothing too special. If you want to eat really really great, try the Taste restaurant at Surin beach, which is great value for money and had really great fusion food. To walk to the beach is only 5 minutes. The hotel has an agreement with the Indochine beachclub, but do not go there, it is OK but the Catch Club beach club is ways better, do try the restaurant it is great. All in all, we had a very good stay, but Phuket was a bit of a disappointment after having been to many other sea-side places in Thailand: European prices, service not always top-notch, difficult to navigate ... The beach and the sea are a redeeming factor.
