Usually i'm quite sceptical about restaurants in thailand which do western food (usually means it doesn't serve authentic local food), but with the high trip advisor rating I decided to take the risk.
We took a taxi from our hotel (outrigger laguna) and when we got to the restaurant, we were greeted by the owner, Jens, a lovely german man who had opened the restaurant with his wife. There was about 12 tables in the front dining area, and even though Jens was rushed off his feet that night, we took the time to make us feel welcome and somehow gave the impression that every diner was a priority. There is a buffet option, but we decided to go a la carte.
We ordered the sea bass, baked avocado and pad thai. I highly recommend the baked avocado - super tasty!! I have had young coconut plenty of times, but it was at this restaurant that I was given a spoon with my coconut and that was when i learnt that I could scoop out the insides to get to the yummy pulp! During the meal I realised that many of the people who were dining at The corner, were actually guests at the Outrigger Laguna.
At the end of the meal, Jens helped us call a taxi (which was cheaper than the taxi which was called from the hotel).
The restaurant is located next to a late shop, so you can pick up a few essentials before heading back to your hotel.
If I ever end up on that side of Phuket, I would make another trip to The Corner. :)
