Great hotel for family holiday

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Aug 3, 2013
Our first time back after refurbishment. The resort feels fresh and renewed, but still friendly and has something for everyone.
We stayed on the Club floor where the rooms are just that bit larger, making them so spacious and bright. The decor is modern Thai, not overpowering.
The clubhouse is lovely with outdoor and indoor areas. The service friendly and caring. Every evening the chef comes up with some new amazing canapés, served with a choice of wines, aperitifs or soft drinks.
Can't wait to come back, hopefully soon!

We went there last week of June with 2 kids aged 6 and 8 and spent wonderful 5 days there. We stayed at the Club Lagoon View room and the kids sleep on the day bed with plenty of space. The resort was very new but the service is great. Pool was big enough for everyone to enjoy. we love the water slide.

Really enjoyed the club service where you can get non-alcoholic beverage all day long with fresh fruits and snack. The best food we enjoyed was the 6pm to 7:30pm drinks with gourmet appetizers at the club. Hana's team were fantastic.

Our kids love the kids club and they spent the whole day there doing different activities. When resort offer many water sports for free on the lagoon as the ocean is quite rough. We took wind surfing lessons and it was good.

The Laguna area has many restaurants within the area. Many of them provide free transport from the hotel. We love the Lotus seafood place where we ate there three times. Black cast was good too.

Maybe the only negative thing need to improve on is the drinks service at the pool. staff doesn't come around to see if you want to order anything. You have to walk up to the bar to get something. Suggest maybe you can place flat at every table. Flag up if someone needs service, so it is easy to communicate and don't have to wait forever.

I would highly recommend the resort and the location is perfect. We rented a car and drove around the island for two days, can't be easier. Will definitely stay there again if going to Phuket. Make sure you book the club rooms!

Room tip: Choose club rooms. Some of the Lagoon view rooms are better than the Ocean view depends on the angle.

Brand new resort with spacious room. We've been upgraded to huge club room with Beach View. It;s full of modern and Thai style decoration. Lovely and huge swimming pool with waterslide. The beach side restaurant, Edgewater, has delicious dishes. We like its mouth-watering Grill Tenderloin and Beef Burger. My husband and I love to stay in Outrigger very much!!! It's an amazing resort for a holiday!

We chose this due to the good reviews and I am so pleased we did. Excellent children's club but be aware some activities are chargeable. We didn't mind this as it seemed worth it. I found it strange that the hotel didn't seem to advertise that children eat free if adults eating. Maybe we missed it but a very pleasant surprise. The children's menu was good but maybe not varied enough for a two week stay, however the staff were very accommodating and manage some plain pasta if we asked. The menu in general was excellent and the best pizza I have had in ages! We ate in the hotel most days as it was good quality, reasonably priced for a hotel and the beach bar nearest was fine for drinks but the food not at all good.

The rooms were roomy enough and comfortable. The beach is beautiful although not Safe to swim. A very enjoyable stay indeed.

Heaps to do at the resort! Or relax by the waterslide and pool! Food is 5 star especially the buffet breakfast! Staff are fantastic! Feed candy the baby elephant some breaky or take her for a walk around the pool, the kids loved it!

We stayed as a family of four (children 8 & 6) in July 2013. We booked a king deluxe room with a lagoon view. The rooms were spacious and well appointed. Our children had heaps of room on the day bed which was huge and very comfortable. The hotel has such a lovely relaxing vibe. The pools provide something for everyone and we all loved the water slide. The kids were smitten with the hotel's resident baby elephant, Candy. The staff at the hotel are so friendly and really seem like they want you to enjoy your stay. We didn't eat at the hotel but found there were plenty of options in the local town outside which we were happy to walk to. We enjoyed breakfast and lunch nearly every day at the little Thai place near the parade of shops on the beach. I think it was run by a lovely Indonesian lady and her son. The thai banana pancakes were amazing. We tried lots of different items on the menu and they were all delicious and very reasonable priced (60 baht for banana pancake and lunch options around 100 baht). We also ate at the larger seafront Tom Yum Goong which was also nice with a beautiful view. The hotel is in a beautiful position and is very well maintained. We would not hesitate to stay here again. In fact, we booked a week here and had 3 days at the Renaissance Marriott at Mai Khon (near airport) which was beautiful too but as a family we all felt this was much better.

Room tip: We had a lagoon room which was lovely. Whilst we were there it was really windy so beach rooms would have had a lovely breeze.
