I was not planning to write a review even though we had a fabulous stay but when I read the recent complaint about the quality of service, I felt obliged to do so. We too chose to stay in the Angsana Pool Residence primarily because it gave us a little more privacy as well as space to enjoy as a family. Our villa was located alongside a golf course and was perfect except for the old fashioned television. It was clean and well maintained. We had full acces to the resort by a shuttle bus, van which we could request or my favourite, the bicycles. The staff couldn't do enough to help us with whatever we needed. Quite amazing when you consider that the Angsana has more than 500 rooms! There is one thing however that we have learnt from previous visits to Thailand, you get the best experience when you treat the staff with a smile and a little respect. They tend to return that with incredible kindnesses and caring. Food options are many Andes particularly enjoyed the private BBQ in our villa. These residences are great value especially at this time as the resort is very busy especially at breakfast time but we could enjoy a quite breakfast in the Lounge nearby. Well done Angsana and we will be back. Don't worry too much about grumpy guests as you cannot please everybody!

I stayed at pool residence for 5 nights. It was the worst service I saw in my experience. The pool residence was 3 min away from the hotel by bus service which comes on request basis. We waited for 30 min for 3 min ride twice during the stay. After reminding them for a couple of times they send hotel van. The driver did not say a word for waiting for 30min and brought us to differnt place one time. House keeping was very bad. They did not trush unless we remind them and new towls smelled very bad feeling that they did not dried them enough. They did not clean towls for bed next to pool outside. when we request to change they just left the towl in the room and never put them onto beds. They brought wrong luch for room service. They kept us waiting again for 30 min for check out. I can list up more things. The room costed $2000USD per night and we expect service at that price and it never been there.

This luxury hotel in the Laguna complex is situated on the edge of Bang Toa beach. Our booking was for two adjoining luxury rooms, which had a balcony which led directly onto the pool. Both rooms were very comfortable and spacious. The rooms were serviced each day with an optional 'turn-down' service in the evening. Each morning a young elephant and Mahoot visited the breakfast restaurant for an 'educational' visit, much to the joy of children and adults. A problem with one of the rooms could not be resolved by hotel staff, so we were moved to a self-contained 3 bed house in the hotel grounds. The front office manager staff member Kanitta (Eddy) could not have been more helpful. The seafood restaurant must not be missed.
Overall I would recommend this hotel and I am aleady looking forward to my next visit.

I stayed in the Angsana with my girlfriend for 6 days over new year. The actual hotel was very nice, but there were quite a few problems we weren't expecting.

The positives... The hotel's got really nice grounds, and a stunning pool. There's quite a lot to do in and around the hotel. For comparable hotels, the food was quite cheap and
there are very cheap restaurants just outside the hotel on the beach.

The staff are friendly and helpful, and really ant to make sure guests enjoy their stay. However, their English wasn't as good as we expected, and they often didn't understand what we were asking.

The biggest problem for us was that our room was located next to a machine room. Every 30 mins through the night, noisy machinery started up and woke us up. I'm pretty sure we weren't the first to complain about this, as reception readily agreed to move us to another room when we complained, but we had to wait a while as the hotel was full. For a hotel charging >$500 per night, I really expected to get a good night's sleep.

Beyond that, the other big problem was cleanliness. The quality of the housekeeping really let down the hotel. Our bedsheets were dirty 2 nights, and the towels (both in the bathroom and around the pool) often had stains.

We are a retired couple from the USA who live in Phuket 4-5 months a year. The Angsana is a great hotel to visit and relax in even for the day due to the many nice shops and restaurants. We especially enjoy the big cocktail lounge near the lobby when the smooth jazz house band "Blu Room" is playing (which is most nights). They are very professional, take requests, and really try to connect with the audience. The waitress service at the lounge is friendly and efficient, and we never feel pressured to keep our glasses full. By the number of couples who bring their kids to the lounge in the evening to listen to the band we'd say that it's very "kid-friendly" too. Of course the rest of the hotel facilities are also excellent, but we thought it was worth highlighting the lounge as some guests might overlook it.

Of our Asian trips to Sanya, Kota Kinabalu, and Bali, we thought this was the best hotel and location experience. I was worried about mosquitos at this hotel because it’s on a Lagoon but that was not a big problem.

There is so much to do or you can just sit around and relax in the spread-out pool or the beach. You don’t really need to put your towel down on a pool or beach chair early because you can usually find a spot somewhere. The beach chairs are set far back on the beach with no view of the surf. You can move them forward to watch the kids but then you will not have an umbrella. We did this on the first day and burned our skin even though it was cloudy all day. Our 3 boys ages 8-11 loved the beach waves and it was safe with not a big undertow. There is great service on the beach for food and drinks and the prices are better than the hotel. They always want to serve you. The roasted corn was wonderful for about $1 USD an ear. “Beach” restaurant to the left was our favorite food.

We have 5 people so we thought it was worth the little bit extra money to get a 2 BR suite which included free drinks and appetizers in the bar area near the lobby every day from 5p-6p. We were also very happy to have a ground floor room and we almost could swim outside our room. I would suggest a room with swim out access to the winding pool. Yes it was a little bit of a walk to the beach but it was not a problem at all, especially after eating a big meal. We met a really nice family so we invited them to the free happy hour available to only the loft rooms and suites and it was still free for them. Yes the free wifi throughout the hotel is terrific. So many hotels have it just in your room or the lobby. It’s not perfect but it’s good.
They service the room 2 times a day, which we loved. So many hotel rooms in Asia smell a little moldy. This room smelled lovely with a nightly scented candle at turn down service. They also deliver a little gift each night.

They have free lagoon sailing and free boat shuttle around the lagoon.
I think it’s good to know that the beach is run separately than the hotel but they work with each other. There are much cheaper restaurants on the beach. Directly on the beach to the right is Thai massage that is good. It’s not amazing but it’s well worth the price of 400 baht for an oily massage, which is about $15 USD. Make sure you wear a bikini to unstrap and don’t have sand on your body which hurt me a bit the first time.
The bathrooms are stocked with Shampoo, conditioner, bath gel, bath salt, bath foam, liquid soap, bar soap, body lotion, Loofah sponge, cotton balls and swabs, nail file, shower cap, toothbrushes and Colgate toothpaste. They are in permanent containers that you cannot take home.

The Minibar fridge has plenty of space for your own food and drinks. We actually bought wine and beer at 7-11 and kept in in the fridge, which is much cheaper. We asked the driver from the airport to stop for us and then we asked again when we were coming back from the zip line tour.
The hotel provides you with a beach bag for your small items. It’s like a big purse. You can get the large hotel towel right on the beach which is very convenient.
If you bring DVD’s you can watch them in your room.

You can book activities through the hotel or out on the beach. It’s cheaper to do on the beach and you can negotiate the price less than what is printed on the brochure. We decided not to do Phi phi Island tour because after reading the many reviews it seems too over crowded. But I think it would be just fine.
We liked the zip line the best and did it 2 times using both Flying Hanuman 28 stations (booked through the hotel) for 3190 per person and Cable Adventure (booked on the beach) for only 1600 baht for 21 stations. They both were good but we had more fun on the Flying Hanuman and liked how it was run more. If you want to know more about it just send me an email or I plan to review them on Trip Advisor.

Based on the trip advisor reviews I thought this hotel was far from a town. But it’s not. You can take the free shuttle from the hotel lobby that brings you very close to a town where there are restaurants, shopping and a grocery store too. The further out you get, the cheaper it is. “Bake” was a bakery ice cream shop that was good but a bit expensive. Our friends said the mosquito’s were horrible when they ate dinner at “Flame” which seems to be part of “Bake”. But we ate lunch at Flame and there were no mosquito’s during the day but I felt like we paid too much. I wish we had walked a bit further in. The next day we did walk a bit further to Peppers Bar because there was pool and darts for the kids.
We then walked even further and rented motorbikes for only 250 baht per bike for a whole 24 hours, which is only 8 USD. We could not believe how cheap it was. That included 3 helmets. We took them to a different beach that we found. Call Rattana at 089-0588497 if you want to do this. She was wonderful and very accommodating. Get a map if you can.

Room Tip: There are rooms that the pool is part of your patio with your own private ladder to your room. Some...
