“Great holiday!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 25, 2013

A lovely hotel with accommodation in bungalow style split level pool villas. Nice decor if not a little tired) and great service. Friendly and helpful staff. Very nice pool area and although the beach is narrow - it is long with plenty of space to capture your own bit of peace and tranquility.

Room Tip: Pay the extra for the pool villas.

A great location, one if the few on the beach in Phuket. Definitely the best located in Laguna. Could not fault food, service and staff. Rooms a little dark due to overhanging roof. But who spends all day in their room at a location like this?
Ideally situated about half way between airport and Patong. But a lot nicer than either of the two.
Being part of the Laguna precinct you can also access the 7 other hotels facilities and simply charge back to whichever venue you are staying at.
This hotel has a really nice feel to it. Not too big and a very warm and friendly.
Worth a look.

We have 3 children 5,4 and 1 years so booked interconnecting rooms. The service and attention to detail were unparalleled. Everything was clean, well tended and beautiful. The room decors look a little dated, but were spotlessly clean, well serviced and very well appointed. The grounds and landscaping are breathtaking. The service of the staff is absolutely enchanting. They cared for us so well, we didn't want to leave.
The beach, grounds and facilities of the whole Laguna complex were beautiful, safe and well kept. The breakfasts in Cafe Laguna were included in our rate and were the best I've ever had, both in terms of quality and selection. And as a former travel agent, I've had a LOT of breakfast buffets and stayed in a LOT of resorts.
The only downside of staying in the Laguna complex is that you do seem to pay extra for transport and meals. You can't access cheap taxis and tuk tuks to areas outside the complex. However, the free shuttles between the laguna resorts and facilities are excellent and the kids enjoyed riding the free shuttle boats. However, to eat cheaply for a family, you either have to walk for miles to get outside of the laguna complex to a beach restaurant, or pay inflated prices for transport which makes feeding a family pricey.
Overall however, we were thrilled with the Dusit Thani.

The hotel allowed us to slip into relax mode very quickly. The location is as we needed, right on the beach. It caters for all occasions and all needs. Many thanks also to the staff for the assistance during my midnight medical emergency.

We were last year around 12 years ago, and I remember being very impressed then. This time, I was a little disappointed. For the prices they are charging, I'd expect a bit better. The rooms are looking a little dated, and the breakfast buffet is nothing special by Southeast Asian standards.

The service, though, remains very friendly and obliging. It has a nice range of restaurants. The Casuarina on the beach is a lovely, atmospheric place for dinner. Within the Laguna development, this is still the best property.

Theirs seems a hugh difference between the reviews for the pool villas compared to the standard rooms. We were in the former (room 428), and were a party of 4, 2 adults & 2 children. I am struggling to think of any bettter accommodation that we have stayed in. The room/villa is over 3 levels. Two large well appointed bedrooms on the bottom level, both with two very large en-suites & both having nice sun terraces. The second level had a nicely appointed kitchen complete with fridge feezer, espresso machine etc, a large dining area & lounge, with another terrace off. The top floor had a small but beautiful private pool, complete with shower & terrace. All rooms were well kitted out & decorated with tasteful (to us anyway) furnishings.
Breakfast for pool villas was served in the Italien restaurant & was sufficiently varied enough that we did not get too bored over 9 days. The staff throughout the hotel were efficient & courteous in customary Thai style. Their were many activities, some free, some paid, which kept both adults & children amused. We did, Thai cooking, Hata Yoga, Bike riding, Wind surfing, elephant riding, Kayaking & plenty of spa!! Can't wait to come back

we stayed on Dusit laguna for 5 days and found the service to be friendly and efficient. The hotels has BOTH the sunrise (over the lagoon) and sunset (over the beach) views. It has the best beach of all the hotels in the Laguna complex, very long and with plenty of beach chairs for everyone. Also very large gardens if you don't want to be on the beach. If you are interested in birds you will be very happy here, with many varieties of birds to keep one busy for many days.
The room is fine, the lighting is a little dark for reading in bed. I don't think it needs major renovations as suggested by some people, our shower door doesn't shut properly but that was just about it.
My wife enjoyed the spa. You can also get massages near the beach for less.
The sea can be a bit choppy, and may not be suitable for young children. But the pool is big enough, with plenty of shallow areas for children.
There are several restaurants in the hotel (coffee shop, Thai, and Italian), plus all the other hotel restaurants in the Laguna complex are accessible by shuttle bus or boat. You won't run out of different places to eat even after a month!
Highly recomended.
