“You don't come to Phuket to pay Aussie prices. Simple and great!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 13, 2014

James welcomed us as we walk towards his little tiki hut type restaurant. Good food, cold beer and the best price. This is why I come to Thailand. To enjoy the authenticity and stretch my Australian dollar. Not that I'm a penny pincher as I do spent on premium dining but sometimes you just want to enjoy the simple things which very often is the best in life. Beside the mini mart which is a stone throw of Mai Khao seafood is a stretch of another 4-5 tiki hut type restaurants. For a change we also enjoyed Thiw Soen restaurant. A plate of fantastic prawns with a price tag of 180 Bht.. you just can't beat that. Brings you down to earth. We stayed at the Renaissance resort and they were happy shuttle us to Mai Khao seafood and the near by Tiki Huts. We ate at Mai Khao seafood and the other Tiki hut restaurants all thru the 7 days of our stay in Phuket. Fab!

“Sinple but very good food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 6, 2014

It doesn't look like much from the outside but this simple little restaurant had great food. I ordered the chicken and fried rice and spring rolls a couple of times for lunch and it was great.

Very friendly staff, cheap as cheap but all good quality food!

Check it out especially if you are staying at the nearby big resorts as you will save heaps of money by eating here!

“Tasty food, lovely setting... Bear with the service!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 3, 2014

We visited this place twice during our stay at the Sala resort which is just next door. After the slick professional service of the resorts I can see why some people are grumbling about the service... It was fairly slow and all a bit shambolic BUT the food is really good, the outdoor setting is lovely at night and it is really good value - 2 courses and a beer setting you back the same price as just a beer alone in the Sala! So don't go there if you're in a hurry but do check it out for a more authentic Thai experience than that offered by the big flashy resorts...

“Ate here daily!! Fab authentic Thai!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 26, 2014 via mobile

Exactly what we wanted - really fresh stunning Thai food, extremely reasonable and a brilliant menu. We were staying at the Renaissance which is about 300m away and it was lovely to be able to get away and have some authentic thai food. We ate here on almost a daily basis and also had several take always for when we got hungry at odd hours (cheers jet lag!). The waiter that served us the majority of the time was James and he was so lovely, always making sure everything was okay with a smile on his face. Even though he had limited English he tried his best and smiled at my attempt at Thai (but he did understand me most of the time so bonus!). The restaurant also offers thai cooking classes which has it not been so hot I definitely would have tried but I couldn't face being in a kitchen in 36C heat! A real shame as I was really hoping to be able to do so. Please bear in mind the restaurant is next to a lagoon and also the beach; and is open air so of course your going to get flies - as you do in ANY open air restaurant in Thailand so others who have complained about this should really only dine inside in Thailand.

This place was a real gem and we would without a doubt return. We pretty much tried the entire meat menu (unfortunately we don't eat seafood so can't comment on that). The fried rice was amazing, as was the chicken and cashew nuts, beef with onion in a gorg sauce, chicken satay, chicken massaman - too be honest we didn't have a bad dish! If your staying in the locality this is not a place to be missed. We ate at several other restaurant in the block but this was the best without a doubt. Oh and it has free wi fi!

Thank you James we loved our daily visits!
