Wow where to begin, my husband and I are property owners of a Marriott time share and this is where we go every-other year for Thanksgiving. I have been 4 times now and each time has proven to be just a magical as the last. The trip to get to Thailand is LONG from the east coast of the United States, so after 20+ hours in the air arriving at this amazing resort is absolute heaven. You are greeted with a lei, moist cool towel, and warm and friendly smiles no matter the time day or night. Being north of Phuket, Patong and Karon beach this resort is relatively secluded form the hustle and bustle of the main touristy spots. This is where you go to have pure relaxation, solitude and amazing service. That being said we always arrange transportation from the airport to the hotel via one of their Mercedes Benz cars. We have always stayed in a two bedroom villa and generally go shopping the first day to a local village market and grab fresh fruit and vegetables for our lunches and breakfast. We like to eat in our Vila courtyard in the AM. The resort is quiet and is on a secluded pristine beach with a resident elephant whom wanders around twice daily. This place is pure magic and and I look forward to going back again in 11 months!

Room Tip: "Massages on the beach are cheaper and much more intense than in the resort spa." "The blue pool is the "Kid free" zone and has a swim up bar." "The little villages boarding the resort have amazing cheap Thai food..Not for the faint of heart or those who do not like spicy food"

i can only highly recommend the resort - and we've been here repeatedly over ten years!
In summary - this is a resort for those, who appreciate excellence in food, product and to a good degree service. This is NOT a place for Party, entertainment and a busy neighbourhood!
Firstly, we stay in the vacation club component (timeshare), which offers fantastic value for us, but that may not be everybody's cup of tea. So my judgement applies to all public facilities:

The restaurants are fantastic, we're mostly fond of the Siam Deli, which has gorgeous smoothies, Indian, Thai and Western cuisine. We literally haven't picked a dish that didnt fulfill our high expectations. The staff sometimes lacks sufficient English skills to fully catch your order, but they really try and are able to correct any wrongdoings. Everything is fresh and of a richness, we mostly lack in the Western world. I can also very much recommend the Andaman Grill - great meats and fish!

The entire resort is spotless, we are constantly (regulars) amazed at the maintenance that is being upheld here. Whether walkways, the gardens, facilities or just plain walls and floors are in impeccable condition for the age of the resort.

Activities aren't for everybody, but we genuinely appreciate the variety and frequency of sport, artistic and other activities! The gym is well equipped, again staff here is fairly good on English and also trained!

The SPA is out of this world - phenomenal treatments, atmosphere and quality!

The Beach - depending on when you arrive (we normally come during shoulder season end November/early December), which results in the weather being quite volatile still (but still plenty of sun), however the sea is rough and you can have fantastic waves...!! Also, the sand beach (exclusive to the JW Marriott, the Renaissance on its left hand side and the Anantara Resort to its right) are as long as the eye can take you. We have been on the beach on many occasions without a single other person in the water. Very rare to find anywhere on this planet these days....

Lastly, we just think this is a wonderful way to experience Thailand - the resort is soo large, it sometimes feels like we live in a jungle, a beautiful jungle! It is authentic, the people make it authentic, it is incredible natural and yet developed and maintained enough to satisfy experienced European travellers' expectations!

Must visit!!!

If you could imagine in your mind the most beautiful resort on earth, this would be it. Perhaps I have not traveled enough, but the setting with the infinity pool looking out on the Indian Ocean, the pool which made me feel so buoyant I could hardly stay down, to the breakfast which ranks as one of the best I have ever had, this place was worth the 24 hours it took to get there.
This is a phenomenal place to rest, relax and rejuvenate.

Room Tip: We didn't have an ocean view, it didn't seem to matter.

A beautiful resort! The staff was very friendly and the massage at the beach was fantastic (and so affordable!)... Unfortunately, it's quite a long ride to the city, but the resort provides great transportation for a very reasonable price if you want to go in for some more exciting night life.

This is super hotel. Beautiful facilities, experienced staff, excellent restaurants, and prime location if you want to get away from the craziness of Patong. I spent part of my honeymoon here and it was a total bliss. super recommended.

Room Tip: make sure you have a room with garden or ocean view.
