JW Marriott has exceptional size rooms, but be prepared to walk long stretches to each room, they have 3 floors but the hotel has a myriad of corridors leading to the rooms, it really is incidental exercise, three great pool areas, and it's on a beach, the daily breakfast has a diverse range of food from eastern to western styles, but if you love the java the coffee won't be anything to write home about. A problem the hotel faces is its a $1,000 Bht hotel limo ride to either Phuket Town or Patong, both are about 40mins drive away if there is no traffic. One evening it took us 1.5hrs to return from Patong. Massage are available on the public beach at 400bht which is way better than the very high price of the hotel spa. If intending to spend all your time in the resort this is very well maintained clean hotel. If you are going to be sightseeing or visiting any towns for shopping or eating out be prepared to lose 2hrs in travel time. communication is limited with the staff even the reception staff are limited in their understanding of English so be patient and use lots of hand signals

Room Tip: There are 8 corner suites with huge balconies and private outdoor spa large walkin wardrobe huge bathroom and also guest powder room. If you want to treat yourself try these. Alcohol is very expensive so your duty free allowance would come in handy.

Celebrated my birthday with close friends from Germany during 1-3 May. Assigned a standard room (room 357) which was very spacious with well appointed bathroom, very comfortable bed, small terrace and nice cosy reading area with beautiful garden & partial sea views. One of the highlights of the holiday was the excellent buffet breakfast. I recommend sitting outside on the terrace to enjoy the sea and poolside views. But, be prepared to walk further to get your food and chasing birds away. If you're into fitness; a visit to the health club and participating in the morning yoga class is a must! Fantastic pool with lots of lounge chairs so you don't have to worry about finding a lounge chair. All this with excellent service, good food quality and choices and peaceful ambience made this a near perfect holiday. The only thing that dampened our spirits was that it rained on our last day. So, we could not enjoy the pool before checking-out. Definitely, I would return for another holiday and recommend to friends!

Room Tip: If on a budget, book a standard room and request 3rd level room with sea view rooms 350-356 are close to stair case near breakfast area on level 2 and close to walkway to pool & beach on level 1 with garden and sea views. Great value for money.

This is a premeir Marriott in the world. Entereing the lobby is a joy being greeted with a locally made bracelet and fresh pomegranate juice. The lobby, bars and restaurants are all open and airy and gorgeous. The food is a bit pricey but delicious! The pools are beautiful- all are infinity pools going right into the Andaman Sea. The beach is deep golden sand and you can walk for miles. The activities range from Beach Basic Training- very tough to Tai Chi in or out of the pool. Many classes throughout the day for every age and ability. The spa is grand- very unique in its decor and a fantastic treatment- pricey- and you can also get a beach massage for 1 hour for about $12. The grounds are beautiful with walking trails surrounded with beautiful flowers and trees and streams. The rooms were spacious and very clean with great appliances. It was a most relaxing week!!!

Had a great time here after a disastrous stay at the Centara., Phuket.
The 'lobby' is beautiful, open, airy and what you would expect on a holidiay to Thailand.
Checking in took some time, but the welcome drinks and fresh flower necklaces kept the children amused.
The room was huge, modern, comfortable, and the porters very knowledgable and friendly. The bed was the most comfortable and luxurious I have ever slept in, even a few TOO many pillows maybe? The put-up on the meditation/window seat area was very novel and exciting for my 8yo, but VERY uncomfortable. Cue 3 in a bed! The bathrooms were just heaven, and to have Aromatherapy associates as the hotel bathroom amenities was a very welcome surprise!
We loved the deli, and although pricey, it stocked everything from fresh milk to first aid cooler clothes. The fresh breads etc were gorgeous and a fresh coffee became a daily habit!

The pool was stunning, beautifully laid out. Two main issues ( one a big issue for us..) the hotel pool slide was not working, major disadvantage for our 8yo, and getting loungers near the shallower pools was difficult. Plus side, there were plenty of loungers at the deeper pools ( not so great with a 1yo mind), and they were the most comfortable loungers ever!
the beach was picturesque but the sea way too rough to even attempt! The baby elephant the walks by is also a hit with young and old a like.
Theres a good little walk from the hotel, past some of the other major hotels mainly shaded by trees to turtle mart, a convenience store where you can pick up your milk and bread must cheaper. maybe 10 min walk. Be warned carrying a pushchair down the steep steps as you arrive, not ideal. Leave it at the top!

Oh, and breakfast...well, that was just absolutely 10/10 in the main restaurant!

Overall a lovely stay, pricier than we would have liked, but worth every penny! Would go back tomorrow...

Room Tip: Definitely go for ground floor, the balconies on the 1st floor are tiny, and we had a mini garden walking out into the common walkway/garden!

Excellent relaxing week at the JW.

Arrival - was quick easy and efficient even though we arrived at 10:30am our room was ready. Unfortunately it was also pouring down with rain but you can't have it all!

Room - spacious clean and well appointed plenty of room for two people and more than adequate space to put clothes etc away. iPod docking station, large flat screen tv and DVD player. Room also had tea and coffee making facilities which is a big plus. Large and extremely comfy 6 foot double bed. Again very big bathroom separate bath and shower. Only thing I don't like is the open plan shutters through into the bathroom even shut they don't afford much privacy. Room was always serviced early in the day and turndown service each evening. Rooms very quiet ours was on third floor.

Pools - three pools all offering the same facilities, we chose to sit at the main pool as got most sunshine. Lovely comfy sun beds all with own parasols. Pool staff very attentive and helpful. Plenty of beds available so no need to grab a bed first thing on any day. Not sure how full hotel was had a couple of conferences in when we were there so pools were fairly quiet most of the time. Staff brought round ice cold water constantly which was great as really hot. Also brought round fruit around lunchtime which was a nice touch. All pools have food and bar areas. Pools themselves were very clean and water just at the right temp to cool you down. Only gripe and its a very small one is that dead beetles were sometimes left on the floor and they are pretty big and horrible could be cleared away a bit quicker.

Restaurants - ate at Cucina, Andaman grill and Ginja have written separate reviews for all of these. But all very good and ate well all holiday. Top tip is to book your restaurant of choice when you leave the Marriott cafe after breakfast as the dinning bookings table is right outside the entrance. We had no trouble at all in securing either the restaurant we wanted to eat in or the time, mind you we had avoided going there in the school holidays so probably why we did not have any trouble.
Breakfast as mentioned in numerous reviews is fabulous everything you can think of and more, I shall miss my Thai breakfasts every morning. Staff in all restaurants were lovely very helpful and great service all round, especially the staff in the Sala bar who made us very welcome all the time.

Turtle village - a short walk away via the Anatara next door. Good supermarket if you need to buy anything either snacks for the room or toiletries and half the price of the hotel.

All in all a thoroughly great week, will I return probably, why only probably, well it is very remote and there is nothing really to do or see so a week is long enough, but beautiful property.
