“Great food and service”
Reviewed April 19, 2013

While we did not stay at the Renaissance, we wanted a change for one night and tried the Takeing Thai. We were able to walk from our hotel, staff really nice, made good suggestions, food very good and the service excellent. The assistant manager stopping by to chat was a big change since many restaurants in Thailand do not have staff with enough English to converse with clients. But this assistant manager was really good. The prawns wrapped in noodles was probably the best I have ever had - great presentation, not overdone and super tasty.

“Best in the area”
Reviewed March 7, 2013

We stayed in Renaissance for three nights and had dinner there every night. Their menu is extensive and we still haven't tried out all the dishes we are interested in.

Over the three nights, we had
Moo Nam Tok - grilled sliced pork salad with lime, shallots, mint and spicy roasted rice dressing
Yum Pla Foo - Local favorite crispy sea bass with spicy green mango salad
Tom Yum Goong
Poo Nim Phad Prik Gluar - Stir fried soft shell crabs with chilli and spices
Pla Sam Road - Crispy whole grouper fish with three local flavors, sweet, sour and spicy
Choo Chee Goong - Tiger prawns with dried red curry and kaffir lime leaf
Phad Meang Goong Sieb - Stir fried local Phuket spinach with smoked shrimp

As I can't take spicy food, we asked the chef to make most of the dishes not spicy. The dishes at the end still have a hint of mild spiciness but were totally acceptable and enjoyable.

The staff were helpful and friendly, especially the manager of the restaurant, who always wanted to offer us some more rice to go with the dishes.

“Very nice Thai food”
Reviewed March 6, 2013

We stayed at Sala Phuket for a week and went to this restaurant three times during our stay - the food was better value than at our hotel and was very good. We did not make reservations, and the first night the restaurant was fully booked - however, we did get to order from their menu although we sat at the Sand Box bar downstairs, which was also a nice setting though more informal. The servers were very attentive and adjusted spice levels. I recommend the Tom Kha Gai soup, Massaman curry, and the mango and sticky rice dessert. When we mentioned how much we enjoyed the soup, the manager gave us a sachet of the spices to take home with us!

“Great thai food!”
Reviewed February 8, 2013

Stayed next door at Sala but their restaurant is not up to par of this one! We came over 4 times out of our 8 night stay. Nide ambiance, great service with a personal touch and very good food and you can increase the spice levels accordingly! Try the poached bannana dessery and the steamed seabass, delicious! Not cheap but worth it!
