My wife and me just spent our usual 4 holidays in this faboulus resort, may be the best Marriott Vacation Club, where apartments, service and cleaning are at the top.
This year we only noted some lowering in standard as not working fountain in our preferred pool, no towels service to the sunbeds, only basic gardening.
From december all pools are smoke-free: bad for me, may be excellent for others.
Staff is always wonderful, Cucina Italian restaurant, now open for lunch too, very good. To try: Caesar salad Italian style, Carpaccio, Tiramisù and an unbelievable Pizza (the classic Margherita is my preferred).

We just had our annual family holiday at Marriott Phuket Beach Club in early December 2013. Another perfect holiday achieved. Despite the age of the hotel, over 10 years old. The hotel is well maintained and keep up to date. Every time we visited, we always saw improvement for the better. The location is an hour drive from Patong but that also made the resort exclusive with less crowded beach. There are at least 7 restaurants in the resort and more from nearby resorts and shopping area. However, with 10 days staying each time, we are still happy with what avail.

There are plenty of children activities available for kids at various ages. They had just renovated the kids club and it is definitely a good improvement. Sea sports activities are also available with very knowledgable staffs. Those that prefer self pampering, besides the hotel spa, there are also beach Thai massage avail and relatively good deal.

The two bedrooms apartment made it even easier to have a long holiday in Phuket. The apartment is a good size with living room, dining room and balcony. Our children love the master bathroom bathtub which is enormous. The only downside was the master bed was bit too soft for our preference.

Overall, we are all looking forward to next year holiday to "the best hotel ever" (quoted one of our sons comment).

Room Tip: Best time to visit to enjoy sea sport activities is during high season, starting nov 1 yearly to aro...

I've been to Marriott's Phuket Beach Club for roughly 8 times, each time for one full week. This April 2014, I will again re-visit this impeccable place. With Turtle Village right around the corner, shopping and relaxing is so much easier. Me and my family usually never stay at the same hotel more than twice, but Marriott's Phuket Beach Club is special. With 3 different beautiful swimming pools to choose from, we have a hard time picking which one to swim in each day. Nevertheless, all 3 leaves such unforgetable memories. All staff are friendly and warm, while the sales are very generous. Whenever we re-visit, we tend to see some old faces (staffs) and guess what, they remember us! Greeting us with a warm and personal smile, bringing us welcome drinks, etc. makes our vacation the best out of best. Located just beside the beach, we can do our morning beach jogs and before we even know it, we are right in front of other hotels! (such as the Rennaissance) Once you get back to the hotel room, you can cook your own dishes. Where to get materials? Tesco Lotus, a local gourmet market is only about 15 minutes (drive) from the hotel. If you wish to go to Central (department store), it is rougly 30 minutes drive from the hotel. Where to put your kids when you want to relax? Kids club! Full of activities and cooking experiences, while they're supervised at all times! Don't worry, they won't ever get bored in Kids Club, I promise. I highly highly reccomend this ravishing beach club. See you soon, Phuket Beach Club!

Room Tip: Rooms on the upper floors give a much nicer view and also more peaceful. However, if you are the typ...

Stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment. Very spacious and modern with full-service amenities. Very convenient if traveling with kids. Can make your own meals but better to bring some basics along with you. child friendly and lots of activities for children and even adults. Limited dining choices but sufficient if just staying a couple days or if planning to cook. Turtle village is right around the corner and a good outing if there for many days. slight bug problem in our room and poor maintenance of our plunge pool which was quite a disappointment. Otherwise a decent vacation. Our 2 year old loved it!

stayed at the 2br service apartment at the club. the amenities provide a "home away from home" experience in terms of the option to cook and make your own meals. the rooms are spacious, modern and tastefully decorated. the wi-fi in the room and the public areas are good.

there are 2 pools which are child friendly. the prices of the food in the restaurant are relatively expensive though the quality is good especially the green curry chicken.

there is a kids room which is well equipped and a library of up to date DVDs that you can borrow for family viewing. also, consider renting the mountain bikes and take a tour around the local area and the nearby lake.

there is a "turtle village" next door that has a supermarket that provides fresh produce in meat and milk. there are also choices in terms of restaurants and a currency exchange counter operated by a bank

We returned once again this year to unwind over 9 days, after staying/playing at another part of Phuket. This is a good place to escape to from whichever concrete jungle you may come from! That said, the resort really IS far from most things that phuket has to offer. If you're looking for nightlife, shopping...etc, stay somewhere closer to Patong! This is a nice peaceful place amidst much tropical greenery for some serious R&R with family/friends, away from traffic, hundreds of tourists and girly bars.

I included some excerpts from my review done last year as I think they may be helpful to some guests.

Good idea to get a car or motorbike if you're confident enough to use the roads. Hubby rented a motorbike nearby for 250B/day over 8 days. The driving distances from the Marriott phuket beach club are:

Aprox 2 km from nearest "I don't know what brand", but there are 2 RED petrol pumps outside the convenience store that's right next to the popular Kin Dee Restaurant turn. (Make a U-turn before Sarasin bridge and look out for it soon after.)

13.5km to South bound Shell gas station.
23.5km to Tesco
34km to Premium Outlet Mall
41km to Central Festival Mall

Too expensive to eat all family meals over 9 days at the resort. Personally, I didn't like the service at Bill Bentley's at Turtle Village. We preferred to eat very casually dressed at the row of laid back family run eateries about 1.3 km away. Directions: with your back facing the main JW marriott gate, turn RIGHT, just follow the road, it will make two 90 degree turns and you will eventually see a small row of shops BEFORE the Renaissance hotel. There are about 3-4 similar restaurants, but we preferred eating at the corner restaurant, the one closer to the lake called "Krua Parichart". The food was authentic, delicious and will ruin your diet! The various family members who served us were quietly hospitable. Prices are decent enough. Fish cooked in any style was 80Bahts/100g. Other seafood was more/less in that price range too. I highly recommend the sweet/sour fish! We were a little too happy during our first dinner there and over ordered. 3 seafood dishes + 1 vegetable stir fry , rice & drinks cost us about 2100 bahts. Other meals were much less. Tip: go for dinner instead of lunch, as flies must not be nocturnal. Bring insect repellant so that the mosquitoes don't bite your legs under the table while you're busy eating your meal.

There was also a grilled chicken stall outside the Anantara main gate. Delicious!! Hubby became a regular customer during our stay.

I am still impressed with the botanical garden feel of the resort grounds. The gardeners have done a great job maintaining it. Our unit # 14XX in the north wing had a stream running in front of our ground floor back patio, and my kids enjoyed feeding the fish in it. We could hear the waves crashing at night while sitting out there. It was very peaceful and a welcomed change to our fast paced lives in Singapore. Wifi was complimentary, so we were all happy with our gadgets when indoors. There was a DVD player so I watched the movies that I never had time to. I love that we were able to travel light thanks to the washer/dryer in the unit. Detergent provided, bring softerner sheets for dryer if you want. I spotted inch long millipedes (1-2 of them) walking across the floor in our unit each day and relocated each one back outside. They probably came in under the front/back door from the garden. Ask for higher floor if you don't like millipedes.

We stayed here a few times on family vacation.
Rooms are like apartments with a kitchenette, 2 bedrooms with attached toilets & a living room. If you get the pool villa, it comes with a small pool in the compound too! Kids had a blast there.
They also have a kids club where kids can be drop off and they can be entertained there.
We tried the spa too and it is quite relaxing.

It is situated at one end of Phuket where you'll probably need a car (we rented a car & self drove everywhere) to get to the town for shopping or other food options.
