The only reason to visit for a day would be the water park attached to the hotel. The rooms were alright but the staff seemed terribly lost and untrained for what claims to be a 5 star resort managed by the Centara group. The staff seemed like they were just picked and hired from around the immediate vicinity with very little knowledge on how a resort should function. I mean it took over an hour and 4 phone calls to get a couple of bottles of water. They also had a fire in their only proper restaurant so you ended up eating in- room(and they had a limited menu), or at the water park.
The entire place seems understaffed (surprising, as they were claiming to be pretty full and this is peak season). At USD 550 per night one expects much better service and attention to guests. There were other guests waiting for their transport for over an hour as well. Everything works at snails pace. The only department that seemed over staffed was gardening.
The spa was the only plus. If you want to use the water park I strongly suggest that you stay down the road at the JW Marriott and you can just drive or even cycle down from there to use the park.More
