“A great hotel in all respects”

Good quiet location, well appointed rooms, suites & villas! This property is less than 2 years old. Have visited twice since it opened. We arranged a birthday event in mid December which was excellently handled. The events manager Kate is all heart & always ready to help. The event was perfectly organised, including a quick reaction to inclement weather at the last minute; relocating the 20 odd guests from the open air beach front to the Thai restaurant within minutes!
If budget permits, the private pool villas are fabulous, making it a truly removable holiday!

Room Tip: If travel dates are flexible look for seasonal discounts & go for the package rates including br...

A little far from most of the sightseeing places but its secluded if you are looking for less crowd. Less people around makes it special, You have your private beach, restaurants around it.
Beach pool is beautiful. Near to the airport makes it a good option.
The staff is not great in english but its not a problem if you follow the accent.

Room Tip: Only if you dont like crowd, this place is for you

Stayed here for a wedding. The resort was magical and most the time was spent in the pool over looking the ocean.

A cheap massage a day in a beach hut was great, but its a shared hut and not actually part of the resort. I would have love to have tried the Day Spa at yhe Resort but it was heavily booked and seemed a little expensive.

The food was great! Breakfast was sensational and had everything from chili dishes, to eggs, fresh juices and even sorbet! Great start to a a day! Room service was delicious.

The weather was perfect in Late February and a great time to go. Lots of weddings to admire on the beach.

The only disapointment with this property was that we asked for an interconnecting room for my family who were babysitting our kids some nights and needed direct access to our room and we booked a twin room for ours so our kids could share a bed. Our flight was delayed by 5 hours and we arrived after midnight to find no bedding for our children as our room was just a king and no interconnecting door. We were given some pillows and sheets so we set them up on the daybed for that night. When we changed rooms the next day the interconnecting room had no hot water or electricity. We were constantly trying to get someone to help.

There we're a lot of interruptions with engineering and room service staff even when nothing was ordered.

When we booked the elephant tour we were given 2 different prices to the brochure and then we were charged something different again. The front service staff werent all that helpful.

The location is quite far from the markets and the transfers by the hotel expensive. We ended up funding a personal driver and negotiated a flat rate with him for different locations like into town, the night markets and the airport.

It was a beautiful hotel and the wedding we attended was lovely and appeared very well run but I'd hesitate to go back simply for the service or lack of it and lack of follow-up. Disappointing for 5 star.

Wow! The Renaissance Phuket is amazing, and staying in a pool villa was fabulous! We arranged for hotel transport between the airport and resort. Our car was waiting, we were whisked to the resort, met at the lobby and transported by cart to our villa. Check in took place at our villa, and all arrangements (massages, dinner on the beach) were organized then. The breakfast buffet is vast, we had the beach almost to ourselves, our massages were great, we enjoyed borrowing bikes and riding to Turtle Village, and the dinner by the beach was unforgettable! Each and every staff member we met was friendly and helpful. A special thank you to Amm. We will definitely go back! One note - the hotel is a bit remote, but that is exactly what we wanted.

We celebrated our 25th Anniversary at the Renaissance and had a wonderful experience. The personal treatment we received by the staff was amazing. Tiny took very good care of us during our stay. We loved the boutique style feel of the hotel.

We are Marriott Lifetime Platinum members and have experienced many of the resorts throughout the world. In terms of service, this is one of the best (if not the best) and well worth remembering.

We have stayed in various hotels and resorts and found this resort to be one of our absolute favorites to date!

The service was impeccable and the beach was almost deserted which made it easy to relax and get away from the hubbub of life in London/Singapore! An example of how great the service was: we had booked a trip the last day and our tour arrived back rather late for us to catch our flight, but we made it to the airport in time since a taxi was waiting was waiting for us as soon as we arrived with our luggage already in the trunk. This happened without even calling the resort to arrange...amazing service!

As far as the food being overpriced...if you are looking for Thai prices, it definitely will feel overpriced, but if you think in terms of international hotel prices...not all that bad!

Overall we were very satisfied with our 4 night stay in January 2013. The property is new, great breakfast, friendly staff, and unspoiled beach. Every staff always goes extra mile and make you feel welcome.

We took the top (4th) floor room with the view of the lounge/pond. Apparently the only rooms with the (partial) ocean view is the ocean front villa, so if you are expecting full ocean view this is not your hotel. There are tall beautiful pine trees along the beach which block the ocean views. We however enjoyed the open view of the resort from our room.

The pool is not big, but there is a large grass area with pine trees so there's a plenty of space you can lay out in the sun or shade by the beach. The beach is totally unspoiled and gorgeous.

The breakfast is excellent as many have mentioned, better than Shangri-la Bangkok and Singapore Marriott we stayed in the week earlier. We were not however impressed with the Thai restaurant. The food was rather bland and obviously caters to tourists. We enjoy authentic spicy Thai food and the staff recommended a near by local restaurant (beachside hut) called Nong Mai Rim Lay which was spicy but excellent. It was about 15 min walk from the hotel.

We took the hotel shuttle to Phuket (B250) and Patong (B350). Phuket was small but had an old charm. Patong is Patong but we were glad to visit just for an experience. We took the taxi back from Patong and paid B1000. It's 45-60 minutes but may be worth a visit if you have time, but if not I'd skip it altogether. There is no need to spend too much time outside of this beautiful resort. The hotel has a shuttle to JW Marriott every half hour. It's a huge property and is pretty in the evening. It's nice to visit there for an evening walk after dinner.

There's a massage hut on the beach, separately from the hotel spa. The 60 minute Thai massage is B400. We did not use the hotel spa but this cheap beachside massage was more than sufficient for us. Highly recommended.

When we were staying in early January, it appeared more than 90% of the guests were Russian families and groups. I think the hotel market heavily to Russians and sometimes we were bothered by their loud conversations at the restaurants and beach.

We paid more than US$550 per night for our room (with taxes and fees). For a standard room in the main building I think it's rather expensive especially considering it's a category 5 hotel, although we liked the property and extremely enjoyed our stay. Next time we will return in a slow season when the rates would be more reasonable.
