Stayed here for 04 nights, had an amazing experience in our pool villa. All the hotel staff were helpful (especially the receptionist). Very friendly, warm & they make you feel special. Would definitely come back.

Room Tip: Take the villa near the mail pool side

It was a very nice and relaxing trip to Thailand.
Hotel is the very nice itself, lovely gardens, perfect swimming pool with jacuzzi, lovely villas, we stayed at Lagoon Pool Villa.
We are familiar with Anantara as we've been staying to their properties several times at Maldives ( Dhigu and Naladhu ), so speaking about decoration and amenities on villa we knew what to expect and they didn' dissapoined us, the only down point is that villas sharing some walls, so our bedroom was just next to our neibourg bathroom, so you can hear a shower and the toilet flashing.
The other down point is the housekeeping. Good in general, but the housekeeper always managed to come to clean the time that we are at the villa taking a nap after the beach, or preparing to go out for dinner.
Restaurants staff and especially the staff by the pool were nice, always helpfull and friendly.
Food was good in all restaurants. Tree Bar serve great sushi, don't miss it. We also tried Thai wine and were pleasantly suprised :)
We loved the Tree bar, pity that you can't have a drink after the dinner as they stop serving very early.
Conclusion: we had a good time.

This is a nice place but a few things spoil it.
One its all a bit clinical and feels like the number one consideration is getting your name on the credit card slip.
The airport pick up was fine - no problems
Check in was OK apart from the feeling outlined above- I cant quite put my finger on why but was just how I felt.
The room tour was a bit of a farce - as it was so clearly scripted - hence and in depth introduction to the laundry bag!
Room was quite nice but starting to show age in parts. Giant bathroom
The private pool was nice and was clean. The area around it was nice and secluded - spoiled a bit towards the end when we got new neighbours who insisted on playing rap music very loudly. Not the hotels fault but some of the clientele seem to have no consideration for anyone save for themselves.
Which brings me onto my main gripe. This again isnt the hotels fault per se but they should be a little more selective in accepting bookings.
The hotel isn't in my opinion a kids haven. Yet I was subjected to a pretty large number of noisy kids of several races UK Australian and Chinese.
These kids are clearly bored/unhappy with a resort like this but the parents don't care and so long as they are OK then the kids can just annoy everyone else.
Breakfast got to be a trial as the days went on. Kids running through the dining area right in front of you as you carry food and even more worrying right in front of heavily laden staff.
Banging the beaded curtains and swinging on them. Screaming as they ran and did their gymnastics, iPads blaring out cartoon music while mummy eats and daddy plays on IPhone - oblivious to their brat(s).
Breakfast fare was good and well presented.
The Sala restaurant in the evening - Thai curry night - was bland and pretty tasteless.
Sea Fire Salt was OK but a pretty limited menu, Asian tasting platter disappointing. Himalayan Salt Bricks were an OK novelty.
Overall cleanliness of the grounds was OK except on last day when to clear leaves they used a hosepipe making quite deep puddles everywhere.
The gym was wholly inadequate for a hotel of this type and opening at 7 am is not acceptable, many people like to exercise earlier.
The beach area was OK and main pool also.
The resort tell you at check in that there are bikes available.
Just pick one up- they were all dumped outside Villas and there were never any to pick up. The hotel was nowhere near full and yet there were no bicycles.
The golf carts around resort worked well but there are a lot of utility carts and if you walk you are constantly having to step off the paths to get out of their way - with scarcely an acknowledgement from the drivers. Also there seemed to be an inordinate number of external contractors milling around the hotel for no apparent reason.
Housekeeping was slow and very late. They decided at turn down to be cute and leave a goodnight message on a leaf at bedtime. Nice touch but 2 nights out of 3 they got the name wrong, which just became funny in the end.
I probably wouldn't return, overall I felt a little disappointed in the end

We were staying at this resort at the end of July 2013 so I must apologize for only writing up this review now. I rarely write reviews but the staff at the hotel was so exceptional that I decided to put in the effort.

We had sampled some of the amenities during our previous passage in Phuket around Chrisrmas 2012 ; especially the "Sea Fire Salt" restaurant was so impressive that we went back there in July.

On our first night, we had a minor issue with our -otherwise perfect- villa which prevented me from getting enough sleep. When I flagged this to the Duty Manager, they immediately took action and moved us to an (upgraded) villa ; apologizing over and over again - even though this minor issue was well beyond control of the staff / management. Mr. Christian Gerard went the extra mile by actually _personally_ moving our luggage to the new villa and give us the guided tour.
The free snacks/fruits as extra compensation only made it even more impressive.

Well done to both the staff and the management!

Overall our stay was pleasant. The hotel was nice and clean. Varieties of the breakfast, absolutely stunning presentation and the service was top notch. Swimming pool overlooking bay area is plenty of lounge chairs, next to the Sea Fire Salt restaurant. We also enjoyed the pool tremendously in our Luxury Villa. Also the staff was friendly and very helpful. There are fitness, spa, local thai food, a few restaurants around and shops to stock up the fridge 'n etc. No need to go anywhere else because Anantara has it all.

The first 5 nights of our honeymoon in Thailand were spent at this property. I created a tripadvisor account just so that I could write a review on this place. It was superb, the service was flawless and everything about it was amazing.

We stayed in a Sala pool villa, it was so spacious- the bed was so comfortable and the pillow menu was fantastic we were able to select our preferred type of pillows for a restful nights sleep. The bathroom was so big and the dressing area with separate his and hers wardrobe/luggage stowing area was really accommodating. My only criticism would be that there was not enough hanging space to dry our towels in the bathroom so we got new towels each day.

Buggy access can be called upon at any time to escort you to anywhere in the property as it is quite big but it is also just as nice to take a leisurely stroll because everything about this place including their manicured gardens is immaculate.

On the first night we ordered room service and ate it in our outdoor area, the food was so good the villa overall has such a nice ambience to it whether you are relaxing on the day bed outside or in the sala overlooking the lagoon(due to weather we weren't able to enjoy the outdoor sala as it rained quite a lot), sitting in the outdoor bath or simply hanging your feet over the edge of the villa straight into the pool this place has it all. You can literally jump out of bed hop 3 steps and jump into the pool....

The bicycles for free hire around the resort is very convenient, the Anantara Spa was divine, I had the aromatherapy massage and my husband had the deep tissue massage. The cocktails at the infinity bar are really nice and the resort's main pool area is so lovely to chill out in.

Forgot to mention that this property is within walking distance to nearby turtle village if you need anything from the local convenience store and there is a coffee club and English pub at the turtle village if you want a change in food scenery. Mai Khao Beach is around 45 minutes from the main Patong Beach area of Phuket so if you want to stay away from all that and stay somewhere peaceful and truly tasteful this is the perfect place to stay, but if you do want to head down there it is an easy taxi ride away.

And last but not least the breakfast at this property was world class, the first few days we wanted to eat EVERYTHING there and stuffed ourselves sick. Truly amazing, highly recommended and if we ever get the chance to we will definitely be back.
