I recently stayed at the Anantara Villas with my wife and a group of her friends for 4 nights. It really was a wonderful experience; very relaxing and I fully recommend the place.
I must state from the outset that we were there as part of a "special offer" from my wife's credit card company, i.e. we paid less than the normal rate.
A "condition" of this offer was that we had to attend a presentation from the Anantara Vacation Club people, (a form of time-share), but that is a separate issue. My wife's friends were not staying there as part of such a special deal.
We were met at Phuket Airport upon arrival and quickly taken to the Turtle Village location. However we were not offered a complimentary drink/cocktail whilst checking in, which is something the management would do well to consider. I was able to order a beer/soft drink for which I had to pay.
We were taken to our villa by electric buggy, (like a golf cart), which was spotless and welcoming. Our private pool was fine. I managed to "screw up" setting the room safe combination, but the problem was quickly and efficiently solved. I was helped by the receptionist
with minor problems concerning wi-fi and television connections, also very promptly and efficiently.
Our stay, (which involved a party of some 18 people, including children), was very enjoyable. All staff were friendly and efficient, although at times service at the (fantastic buffet) breakfast was a little slow. (Minor things; bringing ashtray/coffee etc. to table).
We dined at the restaurant near the beach one evening. Wonderful food, excellent service, friendly, polite, efficient staff; what more could one want?
A stay here is not cheap, but then the Anantara Villas is not a place for backpackers. It is hardly Soi Bangla in Patong, but then it never claims to be! Excellent for honeymooners, family groups or groups of friends. Very child-friendly also.
I would not hesitate to stay here again, although I will probably have to win the lottery before I can afford to do so!
