“SUPERB FOOD”

We stayed here over night en route through France and glad we came to this Chateau.
The rooms are adequate whilst not stunning certainly good enough for an overnight stay.
If I have any criticim its that the price was a little high for what the room actually was.
What made it for us was the dinner which was a gastronomic delight.
The grounds are great to walk your dog which we did and the hotel is dog friendly and the staff without exception, were helpful, polite and kind.
We stayed in a double room overlooking the park on the 2nd floor.

We spent two nights here on the way south. Our room was comfortable and grand although the bed was hard. The lighting was poor throughout the hotel with timer switches and low wattage bulbs. We had two excellent meals in the evening. The grounds are lovely and the owners very helpful and welcoming. We would like to return.

Room Tip: We had room 3 which looked out to the side and back with big windows. There is no pool or fitness c...

Set just off the main Strasbourg to Calais motorway in deep French countryside this hotel is a true haven of tranquility, complete with very comfortable accommodation, exquisite food and impeccable service. It is family run and one feels the care and attention in everything. Certainly it's a little faded in parts but it is real quality and undeniable French, not standard large hotel chain (what country am I in?) by any stretch of the imagination.
A busy restaurant with a lot of non-residents dining shows just how good it is. A cheeseboard that cannot be beaten (for French cheese at least)
The river flows gently siding the extensive grounds, with water meadows on one side and on the hotel side beautiful wild flowers and lawned areas. Complete silence except for wildlife and the odd cow.
I sat at breakfast with my two french bulldogs and felt very at home. Surreal but wonderful experience. I hope to return in the future for a longer stay with my husband.

This lovely chateau is difficult to rate as it is quite different to staying in a standard four or five star hotel. We found it a welcome break from the large cities and from the standard hotel. Staying for two nights we were delighted with our room which was enormous and faced across the front gardens.
Our welcome was warm and friendly as we were guided to a lift for our heavier bags. The grounds are lovely and enjoyable despite the wet weather.
Location is perfect for discovering the battle fields of Verdun.
The restaurant is formal and the food delicious it is adult oriented I am unsure what you would do with small children as the Chateau is not located near a town.
Altogether a really enjoyable stay.

We stayed here for one night in July and had a fabulous time! I was a little worried that it might be stuffy or pretentious but instead we found the staff welcoming and friendly. Yes, the rooms are a little faded (and in desperate need of better lighting) but they still have so much character and charm that this place is worth a visit. Go for a dip in the (cold) river or just wander the beautiful grounds and you will be charmed. And that is before you have dined in the restaurant! The dinner was divine. It was a bit old fashioned but like the chateau itself that is part of the charm. We started with a yummy amuse bouche of foie gras creme brulee, before moving on to an entree of two types of foie gras. I then had duck breast cooked with truffle sauce and a dessert of white and dark chocolate mousses. It was all so tasty! Handy hint: flip to the back of the wine list and a order a local speciality and you needn't spend a scary amount of money on wine. The breakfast the next day was a little pricey but the range was good and the servings generous.

We came here on a family holiday but it would also be ideal for a romantic get-away. I am plotting how to get back to this place!

Magnificent C19th Chateau set in beautiful parkland on the River Meuse in the heart of the Verdun battlefields of 1914-18. As with a previous reviewer; the exterior is much more impressive than the exterior. Had a large duplex room; - one of their more expensive offerings -"definitely old style"with two good bathrooms. Room was rather dark as had small windows but a great view of the park surrounding the chateau. Dull decor. Bed not very comfortable - too hard and the first time in years that I have had sheets and hairy old blankets for bedding in a hotel charging these sorts of rates.... Hotel generally was clean and tidy but with that "dusty" old feel of an old chateau...
Dinner was OK - largish portions for France; nice ingredients but did not enjoy the cooking - some strange mixtures of ingredients on the plate which didn't work well together. eg parsnip and morilles puree with turbot. Prices fairly high for this quality.
My room was euro 220 - at the high end for this type of accommodation. Food, I think, was highly priced as well.....
Didn't capture my heart. Would not go back.

Room Tip: Get a room overlooking the park....

The chateau is very impressive on the outside, although a little disappointing once inside. Our room was quite small and rather uninspiring. However we had chosen one of the cheapest, so I shouldn't have been surprised. The restaurant was charming and the food very good. For some reason which both of us couldn't quite put our finger on, we're not sure we would go back.
