Booked for 1 night as a stopover on the way to the Dordogne. Owner was very friendly, room was basic but clean. Not too much in the way of facilities but can't really complain at this price. Owner was happy for us to store our trailer and bikes overnight on the terrace rather than leaving them on the street.

Booked for 2 nights. Rooms basic but clean and rustic. Booked dinner for 2. First course, limited selection but not bad - Gesier Salad and Rillettes d'Oie. Main course steak, duck or salmon. Opted for Steak and Duck. Steak like cardboard and Duck very fatty, both served with a few cubes of fried potato and about 5 burnt string beans. Dessert was sorbet served with spray cream all at 21 Euros each. Had breakfast which was not bad at 7 euros.
Sunday returned at 5.00 to find restaurant, bar and hotel closed with nobody anywhere although we had been given a code for the door.
Woken at 4.30am Monday by bin men and then kept awake by traffic. Couldn't shut window as too hot and no fan, temperature in 30's!
Had to ask for a second bath towel and was given 2 more hand towels!

When we arrived on a Sunday late afternoon in March, the hotel was closed. There was a board showing a number to call. Having called the number, we were given a number to access the hotel, and told to take our key from the reception counter, and find our own room. We did not find this very satisfactory! We were the only people staying at the hotel, and had complete access to the bar and everything else, but did not take advantage of this! The room was basic, but had full en-suite facilities, and adequate heating and hot water. The floor was bare boards, with smoothed off nails, but uncomfortable to bare feet etc. There were just flimsy plastic cups to drink from, and no proper glasses. There was no way of accessing a hot drink, and everywhere else in the town was closed. We were told that there would be other restaurants open for an evening meal, but there were not any, but we did find one good sit-in pizzeria. Breakfast was a very basic French breakfast at 7 Euros. No flannels were provided, and shampoo and bath foam was not replenished daily, and there were no comfortable chairs in the bedroom, and there was no guest lounge. We ate an evening meal on one evening when we were there. The meal was fine, with a reasonable wine list, but we were the only guests in the dining room. There was just one person (the manager, we assume) serving in the retaurant and looking after the bar, and service was a bit slow. Having looked at the other hotels in the town (most of which seemed closed) La Meteorite might be the best available! Only on-street parking is available (free), and there was not problem in Mrach, but it might be a different story in summer.

A group of 6 made this hotel one of our location stops for a big french cycle ride we did in October. The rooms were great, food fantastic and most of all, Daniel the owner and his staff were very accommodating and friendly. A great place to stay - highly recommended.

My Husband and I have stayed at this Hotel twice now. The Hotel is boutique and comfortable, it has a homely feel with none of the impersonal feelings of a commerical `chain` establishment.
The owner Daniel is very welcoming and friendly and has a lot of patience with our lack of French speaking. The rooms are very clean and comfortable with a simple taseful style. The food is authentic and delicous. Hard to believe that this Hotel is only 2 star.
My Husband Andy and I like this area so much we are buying a property in Rochechouart.

We have eaten at La Meteorite before, hence our return.
The food is always good and flavoursome. We choose the fixed price daytime menu but you can always choose off the main menu if you like.
A great place to relax in a lovely courtyard watching the world go by.
