Le Bellerive
Reviewed April 27, 2014

I spent three days here in April and couldn't have found a warmer or more friendly welcome from the English owners. The hotel has a fine lakeside position , the dinners were delicious, the chat in the bar engrossing and my room all that I wanted. And at a very reasonable price too. I'm very much looking forward to being looked after by David and Helen again soon.

We stayed at the hotel whilst waiting to sign for our new french home for 8 nights in April and we would recommend the hotel highly with a great mix of comfy beds, awesome food which was plentiful and welcoming hosts
David & Helen. Go for the steak on hot stones which is truly fabulous as an evening meal. Def for the bigger appetite after all that walking in the beautiful french countryside which is easily accessible from the village of Peyrat Le Chateau. With the lake now almost full again the hotel has the best view in the village.

David and Helen couldn't do enough for us and we appreciated their help and advice and would therefore have no hesitation in recommending the hotel to friends and family.

if you are looking for a small family run hotel in a lovely position look no further than the Bellerive. the owners David and Helen are excellent hosts, nothing is too much trouble for them. Food is great with comfortable bar and terrace that overlooks the lake where you can have a pre dinner drink or two. My only complaint is that we never stay long enough!

We arrived at peyrat-le-chateau where we would stay for two nights during our stay.
The hotel is easily located as it is situated along the picturesque front street.
Upon arriving we were greeted by David who would be our host, who was a very nice chap that made us feel welcome from the word go.
The room was modern but with a traditional french touch with some of the furniture. The view from our window looked out onto a river which was soon to be a lake, shown in a picture I have added. Which was beautiful to wake up to especially on a clear morning like we had.
We also dined at the restaurant both nights, where I had steak from 5km Down the road, fabulous. My wife is a vegetarian and this was also well catered for.
If we hadn't been over in France to buy a property ourselves I would definitely return here.

New owners Helen and David have great plans for this hotel and have already made considerable improvements and plan many more. It is in a delightful village in the Limousin ideally situated for the Lac Vassivière with all its hiking trails; little beaches and water sports. Limoges and Aubusson are within easy distances and there are lovely drives to ensure you see the best of "La France profonde". The welcome is warm and friendly and nothing seems to be too much trouble for the owners. The food is good, generous home cooking and the breakfasts plentiful. It is a cute hotel and so you should expect some of the rooms to be on the small side but they are very comfortable and have good quality mattresses and towels.. We shared ours with two small dogs and we coped just fine. I will certainly return.

Room Tip: The front rooms overlook the lake and the road which is not noisy.
