“A tired old lady in a great location”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

We stayed for one night in this hotel in a cold and rainy April!
Reception staff were efficient and helpful. We had already found the free town car park, which is a short walk over a pedestrian bridge close to the hotel. The hotel is in the main street and we found it quiet at night.
The carpets and decor are in serious need of some TLC, but that did not distract from the charm of the place. It was very clean with good linens and pillows. We had a very large room, with a four poster bed and 2 tall windows with shutters. The heating worked very well and there was plenty of lovely hot water.
We ate in the restaurant and were very happy with the quality of the food and the service we received.
Breakfast was a buffet with ample choice but weak coffee!
Overall I would recommend this hotel if you want to stay in Aubusson, but would not go out of my way to return here.

Friend had been here for lunch before, my first visit and I was not disappointed! The restaurant was busy & only 1 waiter until bar came to help, although service was slow they were friendly and attentive when they could be. A really good choice in menu and food was excellent.

My wife and I stayed in this hotel for a few days whilst exploring the district. We had one of their small rooms with a nice double bed and a shower above the bath. We were happy with the room and the hotel in general. Found it clean and comfortable.
Our only criticism is that they don't have a kettle with coffe or tea in the room.

We arrived at the hotel very late the first night, as we were slowed down by thick fog in the area but as we had already phoned to let the hotel know we were delayed, we found a note in the hotel window for us to phone a number to get the code for the door, collect our key from Reception and go to our en suite room on the 3rd floor, which was very comfortable and clean. There are no tea/coffee-making facilities in the rooms, but we went prepared with kettle, cups etc. The following morning we had an excellent continental breakfast in the hotel, which offered a wide selection. The staff we met were very welcoming, spoke good English and were extremely helpful with directions to local facilities. Dinner in the restaurant that evening was a beautiful steak, cooked to our preference. Parking can be booked in advance through the hotel, but as we arrived late the first night and left at 3.00am the following night, we used the free parking area by the river, a short walk from the hotel. We loved the town and would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area.

Friendly reception. Restaurant looked promising. Waht a pity that, when traveling alone, you'r e being offered the most terrible table at the door. On enquiring about another table I was told the restaurant was 'complet', however only minutes after I came in other people left. Why not change to another table? When my order was taken I asked for time between the courses. Only one minute after I finished my starter, there was my main course. It had been waiting in the kitchen already, because meat (of good quality) was not really warm anymore. Presentation of main course (for this price) was poor. Aligot far to salty. I could not eat it. When I mentioned this to the manager there was hardly any reaction. Only minutes after main course..... cheese. I could stop them however and asked for 10 minutes. Desert was good, but enormous. Room good price-quality relation. Breakfast..... French....

Arrived, without a booking, late evening, and were welcomed to the hotel. My french is poor, but the receptionist was most helpful. We had a comforable, but small en-suite room on the 3rd Floor. The hotel has a lift! Food in the hotel restaurant is excellent and not too pricey. The hotel is situated in the middle of Aubusson, so we didn't eat breakfast at the hotel but had pain au raisin and coffee at the bakers across the road. Parking outside the hotel is metered, but there is free parking by the river about 100 metres away.
