“Great beach front location, shame about the hotel”
Reviewed September 20, 2012 via mobile

The hotel has a great beachside location and our room had a side sea view and pool view which was nice and there was plenty of choice at breakfast....However, the hotel (with the exception of the breakfast room) needs a major refurishment!! The outside of the hotel is covered in overhanging weeds; the reception area and lobby is dated and the rooms are set in the 80s!! playa de muro is also full of cheap restaurants and tacky souvenir shops!!

Just back from a few nights' stay in August-September 2012. I find it impossible to understand how this hotel gets positive reviews in TripAdvisor and elsewhere. Perhaps it was a decent hotel two decades ago (they have some tour operators' prizes and distinctions in the lobby, but they are from 1997, 1998, 1999, and then nothing). Today it is a depressing thing, you never feel that you are in a four-star property. It is a poor hotel in a tacky complex, catering almost exclusively for German tour operators.

The hotel has a swimming pool, many loungers and direct access to the beach (in fact, it is on the beach), which is OK if you don't mind that the sights on both sides of the hotel are dominated by the chimneys of a huge factory and a huge power station nearby; some staff were pleasant and polite...and that's about all the positives.

The rest are negatives:
- rooms are on the small side, and very dated. The hotel is clearly aged. Carpets are peeled off, curtains are old and dirty, furniture looks 30 years old.
- very old bed sheets and a pillow cover that was too short to hide the disgusting, dirty pillow underneath;
- very small bathroom; we were shown two rooms, in one of them there were ants crawling in the washbasin.
- tiny balcony with no privacy;
- old and dangerous (cement) tennis court, slippery with moss; tacky that they make you pay for it in advance, and only cash is accepted;
- some unpleasant staff. I am not fond of automatic coffee machines, so I requested a different coffee, like the one I had seen in other tables; the breakfast waitress resisted my request, tried to convince me that the other coffee was "worse" and when she finally accepted to bring it, explained that "we have if for annoying customers like you". The next day, the same person asked whether we minded sharing our breakfast table with another couple; when we declined, she told us that it was "against the rules" that we would not agree to share (because our table was a 4-seater and we were two; mind you, they were plenty of empty tables around). This is just not expected in a four-star.
- you are treated like cattle (see above);
- the surroundings of the hotel are a tacky tourist trap, miles of souvenir and liquor shops, burger joints and car rental places.

My summary: I would avoid this hotel. I can't understand its rating on TripAdvisor; objectively, this is not a recommendable place.

Returned again this year to this hotel: The positives: Access to the beach is great and the beach is wonderful, just a quick short walk from lounger in hotel to the beach: This is the most positive aspect of this hotel: Food is good and plenty of selection: Entertainment is generally very good (Il divo and band singing 70s music really really good) Celine Dion type entertainer was awful. Staff very helpful at reception and lady in charge of dining room also excellent: Very clean hotel: Good service in bar and staff work very hard at night to serve customers: It was my birthday during my stay and a bottle of cava was left in the room compliments of the Manager: Nice touch this but his card was written in German and as I am Irish I dident understand a word: My only gripe was with the waitress in charge of the section in which i was seated in the dining room: She was sullen and when one had bought wine/water for dinner the bill was almost throw at the table and when i signed the first bill she was unhappy with my signature (despite the fact that this is how i signed at reception on entering the hotel) and insisted that I print out my signature. A most unpleasant lady. (needless to say she received no tip).The rest of the staff were fine and this was an exception. Lots of Germans and some Russians also but all just normal couples/families on holidays: If you are looking for a beach side hotel with good food and good service (mostly) this is the hotel for you.

Room Tip: Go as high as you can for views:

Was in hotel from 18-Jul-2012 till 30-Jul-2012.
Territory is fine, a lot of free sunbeds on the territory in 50 meters till the sea (can be found all the day). Coast was also great (really the best from other in Mallorca), very clean and good for small kids (sea depth does not exceed 80-120 cm for 50 meters), water temp was 25-26,5 celsium degrees. But note that at that season strong winds can be happen. unlucky we got it, so it was really cold to get out after swiming .
Pools were very good.
Room was (for my opinion) too small for 3 people, my kid's sofa was right under conditioner, so after 2 nights we took her to out bed. And sofa in open state totally overlap the way to balcony. Also bed was covered by rubber sheet, so all movements throw up unpleasant sounds. Bathroom was ok. Conditioner flowed once but problem was fixed very fast; unfortunately appeared on the wall after it black mould was useless to clean.
Cleaning was good enough, but it was made only till 2pm, so if your room for some reasons was not clean till this time, it can be cleaned only after special request.
Meals were fine for adults, but nothing good for small kids at all (chips and chicken all the time). In the closest cafe/restorans the same menu - chips, hamburgers and grilled meat. Also it was big suprise that you cannot order tea/coffee at the dinner. Restoran service was perfect.
Animation was mostly german and spanish.
I would like to say many thanks to reception's ladies for they information help, smiles and good mood.
As resume, i think, that if in future I'll go to Mallorca once again Inever will live in such hotels, because small hotels not so far from the beach (15 km) + car rent is much cheaper with better quality.

Dear Guest,

Thank you very much for your comments.
They are the best help we can get in order to improve for the future.
We are sorry if we did not satisfy your expectations and we will try harder to be better, trusting that in your next visit to Mallorca you'll give us a new chance.

Thanks a lot,

I stayed here with my two young daughers on 30 June 2012. Yes 95% of the guests were German/Swiss but they are quiet and family orientated and I felt myself and the children were in very safe company. Whilst the staff were used to German guests, we had no language problems in any of the restuarants, on-site shop etc and had everything we needed. We were fortunate to have a junior suite which was lovely, modern and spacious (two beds for the children and a sofa made up for me) and a modern decent sized bathroom. The hotel was always clean. There was good choice of food in the resturaunt and a couple of on-site cafe/bars for snacks during the day. There was a kids club run daily (at no extra cost). The beach was about 20 seconds away from the hotel with no road to cross. There was a bus stop outside the hotel which runs regularly to Alcudia. There are a number of shops/bars across the road from the hotel. It is not a rowdy area which was good for us. For a family/couple looking for a relaxing holiday with no need to go elsehwere unless you want to, this is great. Also, three swimming pools to chose from throughout the complex. NB although we were half board, the drinks with the evening meal are not free and you will receive a bill at the table for these.

Room Tip: If you want to avoid the night entertainment noise, the junior suites are located in a separate area...
