“Very peaceful and beautiful place”
Reviewed May 9, 2012

I can't believe this place hasn't got any reviews yet! We came here whilst on holiday last July and thoroughly enjoyed it.

It is only a small place, but it is so peaceful we could of stayed here all day. It is set in a valley off of the main road surrounded by rolling hills. There is parking at the bottom next to the gardens.

At the entrance is a small farm shop/cafe where you can purchase pickles, jams, veg, dairy, fish etc There is also water garden goods for sale.

You then go out into the water gardens which are beautifully kept and have 5 acres lakes with well stocked rainbow and brown trout .Here you can have a go at catching your own trout. It was £2.50 to hire the fishing tackle and then £2.50 per 1lb of trout. We caught two and our children really enjoyed this. They gut them for you, but I had to fillet them when we got back to the holiday cottage which was surprisingly satisfying. We put them on the barbecue and they were delicious. If you prefer they have some for sale in the farm shop already prepared. You can also feed the fish for £1.

We spent some time sitting in the gardens and wandered around looking at some of the other fish. Finished off with an ice-cream sitting at the outside tables. An enjoyable time was had by us all and I would highly recommend for anyone looking for a peaceful afternoon in a beautiful setting or enjoys a bit of trout for dinner.
