Not often does one meet a giant red stiletto driving up to a hotel and this rather sums up Broomhill. The location in the Devon country, but just outside Barnstaple, is delightful. The building is beautifully distressed. The rooms, while somewhat dated, are of a good size. The welcome form the husband and wife team was very warm – we arrived late after a long drive from Sussex and were made welcome with a glass of wine.
Of course, the art work and sculptures in and outside the hotel are a real feature and worth the (muddy when we were there) walk around the grounds.
The food – all hand prepared – was lovely and the breakfast rustic and welcoming.
