Description: Nestling in a gloriously green woodland valley, two miles from Barnstaple, Broomhill is a stunning late Victorian hotel with a twist ... there is fantastic art everywhere. With an award-winning restaurant, contemporary art gallery and sculpture gardens displaying an eclectic collection of over 300 sculptures, Broomhill sits in 15 acres of magnificent wild woodland valley and beautifully cultivated gardens. Broomhill’s award winning Terra Madre restaurant subscribes to the ‘slow food’ philosophy with respect for authentic produce and local ingredients paramount to our offering ... pure celebration on a plate. Consisting of mainly Mediterranean cuisine inspired from our travels, and using fresh, organic, fair trade produce from neighbouring farms and the coast, the menu affords splendid choice and excellent value. Pre-booked, 3 course lunch and dinner is served in our intimate restaurant or Tapas and bar meals are served in the Gallery or on the sun-warmed terrace. We invite you to experience our blend of hospitality and passion, inextricably linked through art and food.

Broomhill, is an individual and unique setting. The food is beautifully presented, wholesome and delicious, with good vegetarian choices.I have been going to Broomhill over many years, and it is quite my favourite place to dine. The standard of the food incredible high and always consistent.

“Ladies lunch”
Reviewed August 1, 2012

Attended with a group of local business women for lunch. Food was fabulous, although was running slightly late so didn't get chance to enjoy my dessert properly as had to dash to collect children. Would certainly eat there again at an organised event.

“Far from run of the mill at Broomhill!”
Reviewed August 1, 2012

As a previous reviewer has commented this is not a run of the mill place and that is its main attraction. For under £15 you can have an excellent lunch with lots of choice of interesting and unusual dishes or familiar favourites with an unusual twist. Despite what PWNN says there were several vegetarian starters and two veggie main courses so don't be put off for that reason. The service is slow but they emphasise that in their publicity stuff - ("slow food" and all that): who wants to rush on a Sunday afternoon anyway? The price of lunch includes free access to the adjoining sculpture garden which otherwise would cost you a fiver. It is a quirky place in many ways but that is its appeal. If you are eating or staying at the hotel you can drive more or less to the door and park there, otherwise the main car park for the sculpture garden is down a steep and narrow drive. I' m looking forward to my next visit.

“Nice stay, but not very good for Vegans (or Vegetarians)”
Reviewed July 29, 2012

Lovely hotel, gardens and galleries, but the food and staff need to pay more attention to the guests dietary needs. Even though we pre-booked, and told them about our dietrary requirements (vegetarian and vegan), which they said would be ok, the evening meal was acceptable but the breakfast was very bad. There was no vegetarian cooked breakfast and all I could eat was cereal with orange juice on and dry bread/toast?. They had no soya milk, no non dairy butter/spread and only strawberry jam. I would stay here again (as the hotel is really nice) but would bring my own soya milk, non dairy butter/spread, jam and (maybe) veggie sausages for them to cook.
