We were a family of 6 with 3 children that stayed here. Though I was a bit worried after reading the other reviews we were pleasantly surprised by our experience of the hotel. The rooms are neat and clean and tastefully done. Food is good but less options for veg. Breakfast is not a problem. Sports and health club is very inadequate. Be prepared that the hotel is a 30 min uphill ride from candy but worth it. Overall we loved our stay their and the views it offers especially from the balcony of the rooms in morning.

We stayed at Amaya Hills on the last night of our trip. Our original plans were to stay at the Chayya Citadel, but they were full and honestly Amaya Hills was the only hotel at a reasonable price with a room. The hotel is far atop a mountain on the outskirts of Kandy. It took at least 20 minutes to drive up the mountain and the roads were not smooth. The arrival experience at the hotel was okay. They have a porte cochere so we didn't get wet when getting out of the van.
They have us a warm wet towel to clean off and a cup of tea to relax at check-in. This was nice.
The room was good. Comfortable and clean. A nice balcony overlooking the mountain and Kandy. Really spectacular view too...
Dinner was terrific. The buffet was plentiful and had a wide variety of foods from which to choose; including local favorites. After dinner we decided to go to the dance club 'Le Garage' which we lucked into as it is only open on Saturdays. Being from Miami and now living in Dubai I must say that the club was an absolute joke and extremely cheesy. But, if you've been roughing it in Sri Lanka for a week and you want to have some fun I guess it would fit the bill.
The only negative thing to say is that they were conducting maintenance in the room next door starting in the early morning. Being in the hotel industry I understand the need for maintenance but starting just after sunrise is a no-no, even at a business hotel and ESPECIALLY at a leisure hotel. We complained and they eventually stopped, but the maintenance phone kept ringing. After this we couldn't sleep any longer. The manager talked to us and offered us breakfast in bed and a treatment at the spa.
So, let me give the manager his money's worth and tell you about the spa. DO NOT MISS OUT ON THE SPA!!! This was a true Sri Lanka experience. The treatment was great. I was treated like a piece of meat being tenderized for dinner. It wasn't the most delicate but the massage was traditional. I got the most expensive treatment (of course because it was free) which included a 40 minute massage, a steam, and an herbal bath. Each component was terrific and I felt like a million bucks when leaving. I almost (almost) wanted to pay for the treatment... LOL...
Overall the hotel is a fine choice if you're on a tour or just passing through Kandy en route to another beautiful location in Sri Lanka. A recommended hotel for sure.

We found this hotel to be of a very good standard. The reception was efficient and the staff friendly, the room was comfortable with good views down the hillside and the restaurant food was good with plenty of choice.
We bought stamps and postcards in the hotel shop and gave them to reception staff for posting. They were delivered in the UK less than a week later - very impressive.
Due to the rain we couldn't use the pool but it looked clean and inviting.
We loved the view from our room when we woke in the mornings: we were above the clouds with some of the trees and hills emerging through the mist. It was very pretty. The hotel gardens were well-kept and worth wandering in too.
Just one point to note - the road up to the hotel from Kandy is in a bad state and needs repairing. It's a very bumpy ride.

I was only at this hotel overnight so didn't get to experience it during the day.
In a nutshell it was well appointed with a lovely foyer. Rooms very nice as well.
It was very close to Kandy as well which was great.

Staff not as friendly/smiley as other hotels in Sri Lanka though.
Buffet dinner and breakfast also a little disappointing. Food was good but a very western spread. Would liked to have had a larger option of Sri Lankan food available.
