A small but interesting town to visit in Italy is Montefollonico. Charming buildings and an old pre 1216 church that has the original huge rock foundation exposed. We were there again this past September so we had lunch at “La Costa”, a favorite of ours. They have a very large patio with a panoramic view of the valley and beyond to Lake Trasimeno and Cortona in the far distance on a clear day. The owner remembered us and was very gracious in not rushing us. We walked around the patio and leaned on the iron railing to soak in the fabulous view. Then we just sat and soaked in the atmosphere as we enjoyed some Tuscan delights. If you are hungry enough for a big meal you should try the 4 Course Tuscan Dinner for 25 Euro. Truly a wonderful eating experience.

This small hill town, Montefollonico is not to be missed! The food and friendliness of the owner of this restaurant and the staff is top notch. The Pici pasta is homemade and the Cinghiale sauce is excellent as are the entrees and the antipasto has all fresh meats and cheeses. You will love this place. We stayed here in this town and it was a pleasure to walk 3 doors down to have a delicious dinner.
Grazie Mille, Paolo until we meet again mio amico.

We came 7 of us to have our last night of our family vacation at this part of Italy to this restaurante tha looked nice from the outside. We actualy reserved a table a few days ago. The services was a disaster. We had yo wait like forever for someone just to take our order. The first course arrived half an hour later. We asked for more water and after more than 20 min I got up and had yo remind them once again. The secound corse arrived an hour after the first one. We didnt stay for desert as no one actualy came!! My husband had to get up and ask severl time for the bill. Realy our worst meal in Italy that cost us more than 150€!! hated this restaurante!!!

We spent a long weekend here using Groupon vouchers. On arrival we were warmly welcomed and shown to a beautifully decorated and spacious suite with an enormous Jacuzzi bath, and wide views towards Lago Trasimeno and Cortona. The delicious dinners, featuring a wide variety of typical dishes (served in plentiful portions!) were served on the terrace which seems to perched on the edge of the world. Unfortunately, as I had to drive everywhere, I was unable to explore the extensive wine list. The healthy breakfast was also enjoyed outside in the warm morning sunshine. Montefollonico is a small walled 'borgo' ideally placed for visiting Pienza, Montepulciano, Siena or Cortona. Paola and Paolo (and all the staff) were attentive and helpful hosts and we would totally recommend this hotel to anyone.
