Costa is nestled in a pretty small village on a hillside in Tuscany with breathtaking views across to Cortona, Lake Trasimeno and the Sybelline hills. We arrived in the village hoping we were not too late to find lunch and found Costa - empty but with a willing host, Paolo. A great and reasonably priced menu was complemented by a staggering array of wines. The food when it came was, as very almost always in out of the way places in Tuscany, a tempting mix of the rustic (bicci or picci) and the more refined (bistecca). We had a superb two course lunch and a lovely bottle of red wine. We ate inside because of the inclement weather but stepping out onto the terrace revealed the wonderful broad views - a picture postcard view if ever there was one. I can't wait to return on a warm spring day and repeat the experience on the terrace - although maybe not because I might never leave.
