“Welcoming village pub”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 6, 2013

As I work nearby I have been using this pub on and off for nearly 30 years. Having heard it was under new ownership we decided to give it a go when looking for somewhere for a evening meal with kids back in March. We have been back a number of times since and it has become a firm family favorite. Owners and staff very friendly and welcoming. Happy to say children are made very welcome which was not the case with some owners in recent years. Food is basic but very well cooked. My Rump steak on a recent visit was one of best I have had recently; perfectly cooked and very tasty. Its not the cheapest pub around but all in all I think its fair value for the quality of food and standard of service. Good selection of beers all well kept.

“Some improvements needed..”

In addition to Shanes comments on the food, which was very good, i would add that the following could do with some attention - Hot plates would really be nice. Ladies toilets needs some serious decorating.

“Pleasantly surprised”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 17, 2013

Having not been to the Dolphin for many years, I visted last night. Therestaurant is seperate from the bar and very pleasant oldy wordly without being plasticky. One of chose a 10z Rump steak which was cooked as requested and well presented and a good portion size. Two of us chose beer battered cod which was fresh fish, freshly battered not a frozen fish portion. The fish & chip meal wasn't massize for £10.95 but enough, served with chips and peas. Service was very good. Desserts were expensive at £5.55-£5.85 or icecream £3.45 for 2 scoops.

“Pleasant pub - traditional food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 14, 2013

Good varied menu - nothing too exotic. One of the positive is that you can get smaller portions of some of the dishes at a reduced price. Much of the food is locally sourced and cooked nicely. Service was good and attentive. General reasonably priced for an enjoyable meal
